Trailer Thursday: Eight Minutes of 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'? Yes Please

[Rooney Mara Source]
So it's not a Thursday and it's almost halfway through December, but I'm catching up remember? And though a bazillion things are coming out this month, thanks to the Metro Manila Film Festival (scheduled for Christmas Day), we get none of the movies on time. So Rooney and Daniel Craig will have to wait for me to squee over them in David Fincher's masterpiece because I won't get to see it, just yet. Boo, obviously.

The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo

HOLY WOW 8 MINUTES. Eight minutes of awesome. And now I'm scared because it looks really really good and I'm scared that it's just a brilliantly cut trailer. but it can't be, right? It's Fincher and Craig and Mara and the book was soooo good and the Swedish version was A+ so this US retelling can't be watered down and bad, right? Right? Okay, let's cross our fingers because honestly, it looks too good to be true.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

And they're back! Though Rachel Mcadams didn't get top billing this time, that's reserved for original Lisbeth Salander, Roomi Napace, but hey, I'll take it because she was at the premiere and I saw her shooting scenes which means she's in it. To what extent? I'm not sure, but it should be good with Guy Ritchie handling things and RDJ and Jude Law back on the saddle. This should be entertaining all the way.

HOTNESS. Really. Too much hotness. It's got so much buzz around it and so much nudity and sex, this is something I NEED TO WATCH. If I need to get this in a really bad copy, I'll take it just because it's got Fassy and Carey being all serious (not with each other) and has all the acclaim it can get from every single award giving body. Academy, listen up. I say Best Actor right here.

Albert Nobbs

I did not know about this movie or that Mia was in it but Glenn Close is about to give a flawless performance, I think. I feel like this one's going to make me bawl so I better get the tissues ready but if the trailer is any indication, the ending doesn't look to be a positive one. A little weird at times, but you know this one could have buzz around it too. Shall we see Mia at the Oscars as well, if only to present? I hope so.

New Year's Eve

THIS SHOULD BE BAD BUT I AM SUCKER FOR THIS and I'll definitely catch it if only to turn my brain off for two hours and not think about a thing. We all know where it's going and how it's going to get there but I'll go along for the ride anyway. I wish Zefron got a legit love team, but Ms. Pfeiffer does look amazing for her age, so it should be something new to see. Plus, I'll take Zefron any way I can, you know that.

A Warrior's Heart

DISCLAIMER: I'm only putting this here because Ashley's in it and for posterity's sake, I had to document this moment because this just looks bad on so so bad on so many different levels, I don't know how this got past anyone. I don't know why they signed on to this and I don't know why I'm writing about this in more than one sentence, but there it is. Let's all do a collective sigh and wish Ashley redeems herself. I'm mean, I know.

Yes, Madonna did this and though her track record hasn't been exactly the best, this one looks pretty good. Plus it's about royalty and commoners and relinquishing thrones, it's bound to be good. And it's got lots of buzz and a Bazaar cover for Madonna and Andres Risenborough. I really hope it's not bad just because I would feel bad for Madonna if this one was horrible. Not that she needs help in the self-esteem arena but there.

We Bought a Zoo

YES YOU ARE HANDSOMER THAN THE OTHER DADS, MATT DAMON. We know this. I didn't know it was based on a book or that Scarlett Johansson was in this. but it's all that and I' sure more. I don't know if it'll be a hit or anything but it looks family-friendly and ta tearjerker and I'm a sucker for those things. Let's kill ourselves with sadness.

The Iron Lady

Wow. Blatant oscar bid. Go Meryl Streep. You did it again. She transforms herself so easily and with different accents and just is the character. You can't see Streep. Obviously, she'll be nominated for this, and though I don't know if she'll win, she'll be pretty and elegant and just stately on the red carpet and on the circuit. Just another notch on Ms. Streep's belt. She'll be awesome.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

I have yet to read this thing but I'm already scared. Tom Hanks has the uncanny ability to make me cry and then you throw in 9/11 and families left behind d and this soundtrack and you know I'll be experiencing a crying jag over this. I really do need to get around to reading the book. I wonder how long it'll take me to get around to reading it with everything happening. Looks good, though.
