William ThackerHugh Grant
so sexy/sweet you'll want to:
spill juice all over yourself so he can help you clean up over at his place
|It took me forever to decide which Hugh Grant character I would choose for this list because there are just too many cute ones to choose from. However, I decided on William Thacker, the naïve bloke from Notting Hill was the sweetest of all. He was just so out of touch with the entire Hollywood scene that Anna Scott couldn't help but get drawn to him.|
Still, he was a tad gullible and I guess that was what made him even more endearing to the audience. The way he was so unfazed by who she was and what she was worth back in the US. To him, she was just a girl who was standing in front of a guy, asking him to love her.
And I have a weakness for characters with accents. He had the stiff British upper lip right on and I was just gasping for breath the entire time. Beside Julia Roberts' American twang, his sexy accent was accentuated even more.
This conversation was said the morning after and William looked breathtakingly deadly with the blanket carelessly thrown over his torso. Honestly, he should have just put the blanket down. He looked so adorable with the tousled hair and the wide-eyed look. He was even more sweet when he told Anna:
Anna Scott: Rita Hayworth used to say, "They go to bed with Gilda; they wake up with me."
William: Who's Gilda?
Anna Scott: Her most famous part. Men went to bed with the dream; they didn't like it when they would wake up with the reality. Do you feel that way?
William: You are lovelier this morning than you have ever been.
Then again, she was a movie star. How can she not be lovely? She works hard to be that beautiful. I doubt a night of loving could make her a tad ugly. She should even be more radiant. But the way William said that was perfect. With that sexy Brit accent of course.
All the scenes he spent in the bookshop were just worth it. He looked so at ease in his environment with all those travel books that I wondered why Anna never got tempted to just walk over to him and jump him. Seriously, how could she resist someone like him? The blue and pink polo shirts he wore were always so crisp and hugged him so perfectly. The costumers knew what flattered him and they milked his good looks for all they were worth.
But of course, William could only be get sweeter and sexier as the movie went on. It was a continuous rise to the peak of sweet/sexy meter. By the time he said this, he was way past the boiling point:
Anna Scott: Can I stay for a while?
William: You can stay forever.
William, I am going to be right here waiting for you to come around (the corner so you can bump into me).
