Devoted Best Friend

Kyun Woo

Tae-hyun Cha
so sexy/sweet you'll want to:
feign falling into the MRT so he can save you and take you to a cheap motel
Pamy introduced this to me because her friend, Jason (My Sassy Boy) was the unofficial publicist of this Korean film. At first I was doubtful, but in the end, it was all worth it.

Kyun Woo is the sweetest guy ever! The girl in the movie (she has no name) was mean to him half the time, but his devotion to her was just impeccable. He would go through so much torture, like walking in women's high heels just so she could take a break from them and walk in his sneakers.

From the moment they 'met' as he saved her from falling into the subway's rail, he was already so nice to her. He even took her to a motel (nothing happened!) because he didn't want to leave her drunk on the road. He's got no malice at all. I'm not sure, but I don't even recall a kissing scene in the movie. He was such a gentleman. That's why when they held hands, I already felt like fainting.

On her birthday, he even came to her school, which happens to be an all-girls college, and while she played Pachabel's Canon in D, he walked up to her and gave her a rose because that was what her other boyfriend (who died) did for her. He may not be that sexy, but he is probably the highest when it comes to the sweet factor. He probably beats everyone on this list, hands down.

When The Girl (she doesn't have a name) was banned from seeing him by her parents, she had to go on this date. During the date though, she couldn't take it anymore, so she asked Kyun Woo to go with her. The dutiful boy went even if he knew how awkward it would be. While the girl was in the bathroom, he gave her date a list of things he was expected to do when he was with her. I was crying half the time because it hurt that they had to be separated.

Kyun Woo: Follow ten rules:
  • First, don't ask her to be feminine.
  • Second, don't let her drink over three glasses, she'll beat someone.
  • At a cafe, drink coffee instead of coke or juice.
  • If she hits you, act like it hurts; if it hurts, act like it doesn't.
  • On your 100th day together, give her a rose during her class. She'll like it a lot.
  • Make sure you learn fencing and squash.
  • Also, be prepared to go to prison sometimes.
  • If she says she'll kill you, don't take it lightly, you'll feel better.
  • If her feet hurts, exchange shoes with her.
  • Finally, she likes to write. Encourage her.

If you watch the movie, which you should, you'd appreciate the dialogue even more. In the ending though, when they finally reunite through a common link, my heart was beating so wildly because you could see the shock on their faces as they were being introduced to each other. Kyun Woo's aunt looked as surprised as the both of them.

Auntie: Go out with him. I thought he'd make things easy for you. Oh yeah, Kyun Woo, you're going to Europe right? She's already been there. She can give you some tips
Kyun-Woo: I don't have to go now
Auntie: Why? You two know each other?
The Girl: You may not believe it, but i think I met a man from the future. Your future

I'm a little sassy, and I'm definitely a girl, can you come to school on my birthday and give me flowers too, Kyun Woo? (My Bakal Boy)
