Despite only having 15 episodes this season (no thanks to the Writer's Strike), Bones really brought it this season. I actually really liked the Gormogon plotline and how it spanned the entire season. And of course, it doesn't hurt that Booth and Brennan were getting closer either. Plus all the makeovers! Hodgins is looking fiiiine! And I ♥ Sweets.
3x01: The Widow's Son in the Windshield
Despite the dodgy CGI when Booth and Bones were at the Washington Memorial, I thought the moment between them was really sweet. Booth making sure they were solid and just making sure everything was okay. Plus the introduction of the Gormogon case is win! A bit creepy on the cannibal side though.
Brennan: There's a phrase in ancient Greek burned into the back of the vault door. Booth: Well, what's it say? Brennan: I don't know, it's in ancient Greek.
3x02: Soccer Mom in the Mini-Van
It's nice to see more Bones/Max Keenan interaction. It's an odd father-daughter relationship, but one nevertheless. Hodgins getting tempted by the FBI Forensics girl but then totally getting turned off when she said she'd throw the air filters was hilarious. Angela is the best fiance ever.
Special Agent Sam Reilly: You know, Booth, she must be really good in bed because I can't see any other reason you keep her around here. Brennan: I am. Very good. But Booth has no direct knowledge of that fact.
3x03: Death in the Saddle
I'm so happy that Zack is back. I really miss his shaved head. And is it just me or is the equestrienne from the S&M Pony Play a former contestant of ANTM?! Maybe I'm just dreaming this up. Also, S&M Pony play has got to be one of the weirdest things I've seen on this show so far.
Booth: Here we are, all of us, basically alone, separate creatures, just circling each other, all searching for that slightest hint of a real connection. Some look in the wrong places, some they just give up hope because in their mind they're thinking "Oh there's nobody out there for me," but all of us, we keep trying over and over again. Why? Because every once in a while... every once in a while, two people meet and there's that spark, and yes, Bones, he's handsome and she's beautiful and maybe that's all they see at first, but making love... making love... that's when two people become one. Brennan: It is scientifically impossible for two objects to occupy the same space. Booth: Yeah, but what's important is we try. And when we do it right, we get close. Brennan: To what? Breaking the laws of physics? Booth: Yeah, Bones - a miracle.
3x04: The Secret in the Soil
Sweets is 22 and has a doctorate! So cute! This adorable little boy is getting his chain yanked by Bones and Booth and their sessions are always hilarious. It's so cute how they suddenly try to take counseling seriously when they found out that they'd be broken up! Just admit you want to be together-together.
Hodgins: Hello, my sweet, exotic princess. Cam: What a slightly inappropriate greeting, Dr. Hodgins. Zack: I think he's talking to a bug. Cam: Well, now I feel a little... rejected.
3x05: Mummy in the Maze
Booth as a Squint is the cutest/hottest thing ever. He can really pull it off! And Bones is of course smoking in her Wonder Woman outfit. I love how they didn't even bother to change or put coats on top of their outfits before going to save the next victim-to-be. Azura Skye as the new PI was so cute!
Booth: Bones, listen. You stay here. Anyone comes through that door, you shoot their heads off. EXCEPT ME! Brennan: My gun is too big for me. Booth: Could've told you that a hundred times. Here, take mine.
3x06: Intern in the Incinerator
It was really sweet of Booth to allow Cam to pretend he was her boyfriend for her dad's birthday. Also, Cam's sister is hot. I love how they totally disregarded Booth after the kiss too. Zack and Hodgins' performing experiments is always made of win. I also love how Booth totally knows Bones's passwords. Meant to be!
Brennan: And I'm changing my password. Booth: Daisy? Brennan: How did you know? Booth: It's your second favorite flower. I know you, Bones. Try a planet. [Booth walks away. Bones starts typing] Booth: JUPITER!
3x07: Boy in the Time Capsule
The victim's friend is the comedian from Mad Men! I really how crossover guest starring on television! It was funny how Booth was trying to look for an embarrassing story about his past so he could make it up to Bones. Sweets being really excited to be in the Lab was cute too! I really love Sweets! ♥
Brennan: Did you bring that for me? Booth: No. Brennan: Good because that's the wrong Smurf. I liked Smurfette, that's Brainy Smurf. Booth: Well Smurfette was a stupid, shallow Smurf who only had her looks. Look, you're better than Smurfette. You have your looks and a whole lot more.
3x08: The Knight on the Grid
Bones helping Russ's girlfriend's kid out with her sickness was really sweet. Bones has a heart, y'all! And when Booth put off arresting Russ when he came back? So caring. Booth cares!!! And Sweets getting into the Gormogon case with the master-apprentice thing makes the case even more fabulous!
Brennan: If we fool them into thinking we're transferring the sculpture, they might try to grab it. Booth: No. Brennan: No, if he wants it as much as Sweets says, they'll try to steal it. Booth: No. Brennan: Why not? Booth: Because I didn't think of it.
3x09: The Santa in the Slush
I know that more pertinent things happened in this episode, but all I really care about is Booth and Bones kissing under the mistletoe, whether forced by Caroline to get her Dad a proper Christmas. There was definite reciprocation in the kiss and it lasted waaaaay too many steamboats!!!
Brennan: [after kissing Booth] It was like kissing my brother. Caroline: You sure must like your brother. Booth: She does.
3x10: The Man in the Mud
Tripp's twin sister is really hot. She looks like some kind of model too. Oh and I would never get into a hot spring of mud ever. It's just feels gross on so many levels. And the double date? Really cute. I love how Booth is actually good at sculpture! That's quite a horse! And Sweets girlfriend breaking up with him? Poor Guy.
Booth: Your friend's name Garth Jodrey? Tim: How'd you know that? Booth: (points to his name plaque on his desk) Special Agent Seeley Booth. Special.
3x11: Player Under Pressure
Look! It's Eric Von Detten! I used to watch So Weird for him and Eric Lively (Yup, Serena's brother!) Whenever I see a basketball court, I sort of see One Tree Hill. Bones teasing Booth about his love of sports was so fun to watch. I don't think I enjoy a couple bickering as much as they do.
Brennan: Oh I guess there's life on this campus after all. Booth: You've been here before? Brennan: I guest lectured last year. Forensice science majors. Just four studnets showed up. Booth: Just four? What was your topic? Brennan: Dimorphic distinction in the human thoracic cavity. Booth: Oh and just four whole people showed up, huh?
3x12: The Baby in the Bough
Booth and Bones taking care of a baby together is a nice glimpse of the future! I wish Parker would have a little sibling care of Bones and Booth. Bones warming up to the idea of the baby was really sweet too. I swear this show has the best scenarios for role play for Bones and Booth. Mommy and Daddy!
Angela: [holding the baby] Get used to it. I want like a million of these. Hodgins: Cool. [Angela walks away] Hodgins: What do you think she meant by a million? Two?
3x13: The Verdict in the Story
The team getting split up for Max Keenan's case was so sad. Angela not wanting to testify was pretty ballsy of her, but so Angela. But really I loved how Booth sort of helped Bones's dad get off the murder charges. When the acquittal goes down and Booth goes to be with Bones outside the court? I die inside.
Booth: Okay, you're not Dr. Brennan today. You're Temperance. Brennan: I don't know what that means. Booth: The scientist part of you got sidelined, temporarily. Brennan: [scoffs] I still don't know what that means. Booth: Bones, just take the brain. Okay? And put it in neutral. Take the heart, and put it in overdrive. [makes motor sounds] Brennan: Sometimes I think you're from another planet. [smiles] Brennan: Sometimes I think you're nice
3x14: The Wannabe in the Weeds
Look at Fox's shameless cross-promotino! It's Ace Young and the other guy from American Idol! Booth getting a stalker was pretty freaking creepy. I swear I wanted to stab that woman (which proves she's effective!). When Booth got shot to protect Bones, I swear I wanted them to get married! Booth loves you Bones!
Brennan: You enjoy it because you're a superb agent. Booth: You think? Brennan: Of course, since I'm the best in my field. It would be self-destructive for me to work with some who was beneath me. Booth: Okay, that's good, because I have to be honest, here. Sometimes I think you feel you're better than me. Brennan: Well objectively, I'm more intelligent-. Booth: See? There you go! Brennan: In certain areas. And in others, I understand my limitations, and I admire your expertise.
3x15: The Pain in the Heart
I so couldn't believe that Booth could die, but it was really nice to see Bones get all fucked up because of it. Booth's pretend funeral? So funny. What hurt the most? Zack being the Gormogon's apprentice. That sucked big time. I guess they had to wrap the Gormogon case. I just wish it were someone else.
Brennan: [to her Grad students] If anyone else shows up here indicating an interest in what you're doing, either tell Ms. Montenegro or shout for Security. Grad Student #2: Why? Caroline: Because serial killers get *mean* when you get close to catching 'em.
Again, 15 episodes but super fab ones at that. I really really liked the Gormogon case though it saddened me how it ended. I'm gonna miss Dr. Zack Addy even if Sweets has grown on me. Still, it was a great season and season 4 can only get better.
