Be Bettyful!

I hate to admit it, but I actually waited for I ♥ Betty La Fea to air tonight on ABS-CBN. A lot of it had to do with my fascination obsession with John Lloyd Cruz (thanks to A Very Special Love) but hey, viewers are viewers right? I can't put all the blame on John Lloyd though.

James interned partly at ABS in the production design department and under this show. And he said it was good. When James says something is good, it must be. And hey, it never hurts to check out pilots. After all, the reality is setting in that one day I might actually be working for one of these shows.

  • James was right. The look is fabulous. The production design is amazing. The office looks polished, the wardrobe is fab and everything just looks really really good.

  • I don't think I've ever really watched ABS-CBN shows because everyone in this house sticks to GMA 7, so I'm not used to their format or the comedic genre. But so far, I wasn't cringing too much, so I guess that's a good thing.

  • After watching Bea Alonso's extensive filmography (meaning John Lloyd's movies too), I conclude that this girl is gorgeous. That's why it's so odd to see her Betty-fied. Her mannerisms are going to take getting used to (especially since I'm more used to Ugly Betty than Yo Soy Betty La Fea), but she's definitely NOT Bea. She's Betty.

  • Ruffa Gutierrez is so meant for this role. She's like a hybrid of Meryl Streep from Devil Wears Prada but a little more high strung and a bit of Vanessa Williams' version of the meanie from Ugly Betty. But this girl needs to work for Venice and Lorin so I'll let her pass. She's so beautiful. Gooooo!!!

  • It started pretty early, so I didn't catch the beginning, but Vhong Navarro as Nicolas is sort of scaring me, because he's so into it, I'm afraid he can't snap out of it when they yell, 'cut!'

  • I'm so jealous of Megan Young! She gets to play Armando's girlfriend (read: kisses John Lloyd as work!). Where do I get to sign up for that role? She's pretty and I don't close my eyes when she's on screen so she passes.

Over-all, I think I might actually follow this show. John Lloyd of course, is a big factor in all of this. It's nice to see him in suits and really cleaned up. Why not get a daily dose of him, right? And because Ate Let is still a diehard Dyesebel fan, I have to watch in the living room while they watch in the kitchen. So I'll try to use the treadmill as I watch Betty and who knows, by the finale I might be skinny enough to go on television! Yeah right.
