Yo Amo Marimar!

It's official. After two weeks of watching it straight, I think it's safe to say I'm hooked on GMA 7's remake of telenovela, MariMar!

It's been a long time since I sat down to watch a local show (I think the last one being TGIS or something like that), but this one is just too delicious to resist.

I didn't actually watch the original MariMar, as I was in grade school and it was on a school night (and I was a good girl), but I wasn't much of a fan of the original Sergio. Things are quite different now though.

Dingdong Dantes is one hot Sergio Santibanez. He is the main reason I watch this show so faithfully. Ever since he starred as Inaki Torres on TGIS, I was smitten. Although I didn't watch him in his fantaseryes, I couldn't resist him as Sergio.

And even if others don't agree with me, I really like Marian Rivera as MariMar. I didn't know that her character was so naive, but she really plays the role well. My yaya told me that she played mostly mommy roles before, so I'm really glad she got this part. And their chemistry is crazy! I'd be crazy jealous if I were Karylle, because my boyfriend is spending an awful lot of time with a hottie who he's got uber chemistry with.

This is video of Marian hearing the news that she won the part of MariMar.

The rest of the cast is alright. I'm not a big fan of Richard Gomez as Dingdong Dantes's dad, but Katrina Halili is the funniest kontrabida (villain) ever! This woman has the craziest lines! Her character is in love with Sergio yet married to Sergio's dad. She's the classic villain complete with evil schemes that Marimar easily falls in to because of her naive nature.

The Fulgoso-Fifi bits are okay, but I'm not the biggest fan either. I'm used to Fulgoso's voice (Michael V) already, but Fifi (Ruffa Mae Quinto) is annoying as ever.

At 8:30 pm, practically my entire family (minus my mom) congregates in front of the TV. None of us really knows the entire story, as no one is really paying attention. I just perk up when Dingdong comes on screen. My dad is hooked too, although ashamed to admit it. You can catch him sneaking peeks at the TV when we're watching it.

Plot wise, it isn't much, but if you want to waste 30 minutes everyday with kilig scenes and great chemistry between the leads, then go and watch MariMar, because it's sure to make for a more interesting day. It's a great distraction, believe me.
