Stephen Littlejohn and I have been seeing each other for almost a week now and I don't know if this relationship is going anywhere. It's just that between the two of us, I feel like I'm the only one making an effort. I'm trying so hard to get to know him, and he just doesn't seem to care.
This book is so full of examples (in hopes that we understand the theories better), that the book gets really long and dragging. So when I chance upon an example that I like or find amusing, I encircle it. I never thought it would happen to me though. Until this afternoon.
Let's say, for example, that you feel very close to your friend and would like to get a hug, but you don't really expect to. Surprisingly, however, he comes up and puts his hand on your shoulder, so you reciprocate by putting your arm around his waist. That's an example of positive evaluation and reciprocation.I can finally relate to the damn book. Today at my org's General Assembly, Joma made sure I would be inspired to study for my Comm 140 midterms. Word for word, the example in the book came to life. I experienced Littlejohn's words from page 99, verbatim. I finally understand the book.
