He played the husband to an alcoholic, Meg Ryan. Meg's character was really annoying at points, because she kept blaming everyone else for everything, but I guess it made Andy Garcia's character even more loveable. Sigh.
He was always just so understanding and loving to her that it made me want to cry. If I were to marry someone, I would want someone like him. He is so genuinely sweet. I wouldn't want us to separate though, even if they do end up together again. When he attended the AA meetings to help himself be normal around her, I wanted to bawl. There's a scene in the movie where he's talking to his kids because he has to leave them (they separate because she's being a real bitch), and I almost cry because he looks so sweet.
I for one, don't exactly want to get married, and I hope I don't end up an alcoholic (I don't even drink). But in the crazy event, that I do fall in love with someone and actually marry them, I'm really praying I end up with someone as devoted and sweet and loving as Andy Garcia's charcter.
If you guys are bored out of your sockets or just have nothing else to do, go watch this movie. In fact, if you want to have a good cry, or just feel like saying "awww," then this is the movie for you. It'll be showing again on the 31st of March 2005 at 6:50 pm on Star Movies.
