Here Comes The Bride, All Dressed In Kleenex

There Goes the Bride

[Cheap Chic Weddings]

Though I've never been to a bridal shower, I have seen my fair share of tv/movie scenes with the make-a-wedding-gown-out-of-tissue-paper bit and none of them have come close to looking as great as this gown made by Ann Kagawa Lee.

On the plus side, she won't have to scrounge for a tissue when she gets all teary-eyed at the wedding, but on the down side, she better pray for sunshine and cool winds, cause rain or sweat would leave her naked at the reception.

I'm really in awe at the craftsmanship and the attention to detail that Lee gave her wedding dress which was apparently part of a contest. She got a $1000 prize for her effort, but something tells me this dress is worth so much more. The other gowns are pretty crazy too. I wonder if she can dry clean this thing?

Wedding Contest Winner [Cheap Chic Weddings via The Cut]

Anne Dazzles Not Once But Twice in 'Twelfth Night'

Viola and Cesario

[NYT]

In yet another way fate is laughing at me for not living in New York right now, the reviews for Shakespeare in the Park's Twelfth Night have come out and they are liking Anne Hathaway's performance in it.

I'm happy she's doing well in it because I'm sure the pressure to do well in something as highly criticized as theater can be tough. But really, I just wish I were in New York right now to see her perform live. Anne + my favorite cross dressing story would have been mighty win. Alas, I'll have to settle for the reviews and photos. I can't even download this one. Boo.

"This polished staging, expertly directed by Daniel Sullivan, is the most consistently pleasurable the city has seen in at least a decade. And it is certainly one of the most accomplished Shakespeare in the Park productions the Public Theater has fielded in some time." -- Charles Isherwood

"The Viola of the gamine movie actress Anne Hathaway is the marquee attraction that will surely make the production the summer's buzziest theater ticket. But among the many pleasures of her performances is its effortless modesty. On screen or onstage Ms. Hathaway possesses the unmistakable glow of a natural star, but she dives smoothly and with obvious pleasure into the embrace of a cohesive ensemble cast."

I Love You, You’re Perfect.
What's the story, Morning Glory?

Good Morning Rachel

[Just Jared]

Reason number 2 for wanting to be in New York right now?! Rachel McAdams shooting Morning Glory in the freaking city. I swear I would kill to be there right now. As if the wait for Gossip Girl was too long, I have to wait till 2010 till this movie gets released! IMDB sums up the movie as: "a hotshot television producer is set the challenge of reviving a struggling morning show program, despite the constant feuding of its high-profile anchors."

Rachel I'm assuming is the producer and she stars alongisde the very much alive Jeff Goldblum and my erstwhile old-man-crush Harrison Ford.

So Very Hotshot

I love how she's taking on a working girl, take-life-by-the-balls kind of character in this one cause I haven't seen her take on the independent woman kind of role just yet. I'm also excited cause it's got Patrick Wilson in it whom I remember from Little Children. Plus Rachel and comedy is always a good thing.

Looking good Mr. Ford

Plus the fact that Rachel stars as a TV producer (something I could have/could be if I ever do get into production), gives me a sense of kinship to the movie already. And hello, they're in New York so yeah. It wins on all fronts.

Goldblum's Aliiiiive!!!!

Though I was never a Goldblum fan, the fake news of him dying really made me crack up especially since I saw these photos of him shooting in New York and NOT New Zealand. More than that though, the film is being produced by the always fantastic JJ Abrams. I'm not expecting a Star Trek or anything but it's in good hands.

The cherry on top of all this McAdams loving? Upon further research on Wikipedia -- which is soooo reliable -- I find that this movie is to be directed by Roger Michell. I KNOW. Who right?! Who the hell is he? He just happened to direct one of my favorite movies of all time, Notting Hill. That's it. I'm totally looking forward to this one.

Rachel McAdams: Good Morning, Glory! [Just Jared]
Rachel McAdams Spotted Filming ‘Morning Glory’ In The Big Apple [MTV]

The Gossip Kids Are Back in the City

Look! In the Sky!

[You Know you love me]

I swear I wish I were in New York right now -- as I always wish. I'm looking at you meesters!!! Why? Well other than the fact that it's the best city ever, it also happens to be where Gossip Girl is shooting season 3 (among other things: Remember Me with Rob, Morning Glory with Rachel, Shakespeare in the Park with Anne! ).

But really Gossip Girl Season 3 is looking good, if these photos are any basis for this. Blair and Chuck and the rest of the UES kids (well Serena and Nate at least) were seen looking oh so fab in the streets of New York. I don't know how long I can wait till September 14. It feels so far away.

Nate's Looking Pretty As Ever

I'm not sure if his hair is new or something but he looks really really good with it. I wonder what kind of lame-ass storylines they're going to give Nate this season. I feel bad for him. Oh and the list Chace is holding? I took a look at the HQ version and it seems to be some kind of lunch menu. I wonder if he went for the rice and beans or the scalloped potatoes.

Blair's Blooming In Love

I just cannot get over how cute Leighton Meester is in this floral Alice & Olivia halter dress. I want this dress! Leighton seems to be wearing silver slim Haviannas in between takes. She looks so good though! I wonder how she'll deal with Georgina being her new roomie.

Chuck is going to... Wallstreet?
Not sure where Chuck's going to end up for college (if he even does) as he looks to be suited up and quite well at that. Love the red socks and the really savvy business man look he's got going. The belated birthday boy, Ed Westwick looks amazing this season. Chuck really brings out the best in him.

Chuck and Blair Happy Times Up Ahead?

I don't know how long it'll take for them to break-up this season (hopefully NOT) because the lower half of the pictures shows Chuck on his phone and a very ignored looking Blair. Please let this not be the start of problems. They just got together writers! Let us enjoy some happy time. Like perhaps the way Blair looks so happy in that dress next to Chuck. Please say they'll be happy even for just a bit?

Gossip Girl Season 3 Behind The Scenes - June 29 [You Know You Love Me]

June: Good Girls Go Bad (Cobra Starship featuring Leighton Meester)

[MTV]

When I first heard this song last May, I totally got hooked on it to the point of annoying my little sister on its many repeats. There's something about Cobra Starship that makes me want to get up and dance. Then they added the uber fantastic Leighton Meester to the mix and I just combust. Plus seeing the video yesterday (Leighton's hotness x100) just cemented it's status. So stuck in my head. Now how do I get into that party?

<lj-embed id="157" />

LISTEN: Good Girls Go Bad [MySpace]

iShip Seth <3 Summer

I've been re-watching The O.C. and it made me miss the show a LOT. I loved almost everyone in it (save for a few) and though I shipped almost all of them (Ryan/Taylor, Sandy/Kristen), Summer and Seth still come back as the cutest, funniest couple on the show (too bad they had to break up in real life!). Rachel Bilson and Adam Brody really did the characters justice.

As individuals, Seth Cohen and Summer Roberts are pretty awesome folks already so combined (and with the addition of Captain Oats and Princess Sparkles), it's just about as fantastic as they can get. Sure they had their share of their drama, but they were so funny and sweet together.

I can still remember Seth going up the kissing booth to get Summer and the many folks that tried to get in between them but in the end, it was still returned to Summer and Seth. I need more of my California-loving couple. Give me more O.C.!!!

Summer: What do you want from me, Cohen?
Seth: I just want you.
Summer: No you don't. You had me. You had me at Chrismukkah in a freakin' Wonderwoman costume and you chose Anna. You had me three months ago and you left.
Seth: I want to make that up to you.
Summer: It has nothing to do with me. It's about you. And it is always about you: what you need and what you want. You know, it seems you only want me when you can't have me. You like the chase, and that's all. And you know what? You can have it.

Summer: C'mon Cohen, you are so cheesy.
Seth: I'm sweeping you off your feet.
Summer: The sad part is, you kinda are.

Seth: He's the only friend I've ever had.
Summer: No. You have me.

Summer: C'mon. No stops, no excuses. You're my destiny, Cohen.
Seth: Go save the world, Summer Roberts.

Everything about you is so easy to love; they're watching you from above

Now I won't settle for less -- 25 Down/27 to Go

[me]

[+] Crazy ass week that was. From defectively annoying internet, to pseudo-job 'contract' signing, to falling asleep while exercising; to canceled and impromptu Transformers movie viewings, celebrity deaths to of course my ultra relaxing (internet-less) hiatus in the cold-ish now off peak summer capital, Baguio.

[+] Things I sort of realized thanks to my week:
a) I need to be more patient with the Internet (I know, even more than before);
b) I need to look for an actual actual job;
c) I should get into better shape ;
d) I shouldn't psyche myself up on opening days;
e) I should totally live life to the fullest; and
f) I can sort of survive ish without the internet for a bit (but hopefully not anytime soon).
[+] And I still have the TWO (2) Dreamwidth invites up for grabs. Though I'm not using mine yet, I've got two more invites. So tell me if you want it!

Monday
[+] Who knew my brothers were such kids? We watched Coraline all together in the morning and i wasn't even the one who suggested it! They may be big but they're still my little brothers in a way.
[-] I tried being 'good' today and actually tried to exercise. In the middle of it all, I fall asleep. No kidding. In the middle of doing god knows what reps of whatever, I find myself asleep in the middle of the floor. FML.
[-] The internet sucks. It keeps getting cut off then back on. Then back off. Long and short intervals. You know what sucks more? Five other siblings who refuse to call PLDT about it. Am I the ONLY one using it?!

Tuesday
[+] Went back to City Hall early in the morning to pick up my NBI Clearance and luckily I'm cleared! I haven't committed any crimes, obviously, but it's always nice to know that the NBI doesn't have anything on me.
[-] Due to the suckiness that is PLDT myDSL, PB and I ended up going out after I went to ABS again to finally 'sign' my contract. I saw my Uncle whom I haven't seen in ages and then PB and I went to Greenhills to shop a bit.
[-] PLDT totally sucks. I called them in the morning asking to help us with our internet-less situation and they said they'd call after lunch but they didn't. When we got home, there was still NO Internet. I hate them.

Wednesday
[-] I was in a really pissy mood when I woke up. Then I find out that there was a Signal No. 2 storm (but it was so sunny) so all high schools would have no class which would mean really long lines for Transformers 2.
[-] True enough, because my siblings had no class, I had to wait for EVERYONE to get ready and by the time we went to the mall with my dad, the lines were really long. And my impatient family refused to watch. Boo.
[+] Finally finished Shopaholic and Baby and I realize I want Luke Brandon even more. I fell asleep after reading and wouldn't wake up till the next day. That's a long sleep, which I don't mind at all.

Thursday
[+] Woke up from my really long sleep with my body aching. I guess skipping one day of working out didn't do much help for me. My high school siblings still don't have class. And I swear it's not raining!!! Grrr
[+] In between watching movies, I was able to bring my brother to his little wine-tasting with my dad. I got invited to sit in at the radio station but then it was waaaay too late and i wouldn't make it to the station on time. Boo.
[+] Pamy invited me to go with her and her almost/practically boyfriend to watch Transformers 2. How can I say not to a free movie, right? Second day of showing isn't so bad. Plus I didn't have to line up for tickets!

Friday

Baguio for the 2nd time this year

[+] Woke up extra early so we could leave for Baguio bright and early. It sucks not going with the entire family but Pietro and Pio had class. PB won the traditional 'guessing what time we get to Baguio' game by a minute! Pamy was so close. She lost by a few seconds!

[+] The Manor at John Hay is so freaking classy! I've never stayed there and Paola and I had an entire room to ourselves. It was so pretty!!! The beds were huge! We're so used to sharing beds and rooms that this was just beyond us.

[+] We were there on a spa package so we had our first full body massage and it was divine! I love massages. Paola had her first massage and it was funny to hear her squirm and laugh beside me. I fell asleep so early. I'm such an oldie!

Saturday

The Evolution of the Jump Shots

[+] Woke up extra early for the breakfast buffet and I ate way too much. It shouldn't be legal how good the breakfast food was. We went walking right after breakfast to burn some of the calories we ate. I swear I shouldn't eat that much.

[+] Had a marathon of spa treatments. We had our foot therapy which was ticklish but super amazing. Then another full body massage wherein I fell asleep. Then we had our facial which left my skin really nice. Then after mass and dinner we returned for our manicure/pedicure. I'm so spoiled.

[+] We listened to music at the lobby afterwards. My dad is a sucker for live music so I sucked it up and stayed up even if I was sleepy. I had an Oreo cheesecake to keep me entertained. The live band was pretty good though. It was much more fun to people watch though. Drunks are such great entertainment.

Sunday

More Jump Shots - Hotel Room Style

[+] I tried to keep it cool on the breakfast buffet especially since we'd have a long trip home so I have to congratulate myself for NOT eating waaay too much. Just too much. Then we had our last of the jump shots (wherein I accidentally Britney-ed the camera, thank goodness for pretty underwear).

[+] The way home wasn't so long, Pamy won this time but she almost lost again. I was seated in the back and I swear I can't keep awake for an entire 6-hour trip. But I did get to drive for a bit of the express way. I was just teasing my dad by sitting in front during one of the stopovers but he let me! I was so nervous! Luckily, we made it to the next stop alive.

[-] And now that we're back in Manila it's soooooo freaking hot again. I missed my Internet and there's so much to catch up on but it was actually sort of refreshing to not have it for two days. Though I wouldn't want to go through that in the near future. Hope everyone else's weeks were great and here's to another week!

Gone Too Soon

Rest in Peace

[Obit-Mag;Gossip Check]

I disappear for two days and two legends die. I first heard of Farrah Fawcett dying from cancer last Friday morning. I was packing for Baguio when I saw the news. It was sad especially since i read that her long time partner Ryan O'Neal asked her to marry him.

Then we were eating breakfast in Pancake House on our way to Baguio when Pamy overheard someone in the next table say that Michael Jackson had died. We thought it wasn't real. Until five hours later, we're checked in at the hotel and I see BBC News and true enough, he is dead. Though, I wasn't exactly a HUGE fan, I did like this music and think that it really is a loss.

At first, I was so annoyed I wouldn't have internet for two days. But then I realized it was a good thing cause then I was able to avoid all the crass jokes made about Jackson's death and I steered clear of any crazy controversy the Internet world conjured up instead of just mourning the deaths (cause apparently there was quite some craziness).

Though I love you Internet, it was good to be away from all the drama these past two days. Nevertheless, I did miss the better part of it. I'm glad to be back. Rest in peace, Farrah and Michael. I'll be praying for their families.

Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett: How They Changed Television [Huffington Post]

And I didn't even have to line up. Hey, this sister with an almost/practically boyfriend business is suddenly benefiting me.

What wasn't bad either was the movie itself. Though the critics panned it as the 5th worst movie (so far), I wouldn't quite agree with them this time. The only flaw for me would be the pretty lengthy 147 minutes, but then again, maybe it was my contacts that were bothering me. I think so.

So the critics weren't so happy...

The battle for Earth begins

Photo courtesy of All Movie Photos

Rene Rodriguez of the Miami Herald said:
At least the special effects in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen are remarkable: You never tire of the endless variations of robots Bay and his computer-generated effects crew come up with.
The special effects and CGI have totally outdone themselves. Though I was very bad at telling the baddies apart from each other the goodies were all so pretty and shiny and just all around pretty to watch. If a tenth of this CGI/special effects is what I'm guaranteed for New Moon then consider me happy, because the transformations were amazing and everything felt oh so real -- even if we're talking abour Robots here.

Carrie Rickey of the Philadelphia Inquirer said:
Roughly an hour in, Transformers 2 morphs from teen adventure into lumbering war movie. Bay and his screenwriters squander their human capital in order to show us scenes of 20-ton toys crushing 10-ton toys.
After one hour of the movie, we finally get to Egypt and hear what the hell is going on between the Autobots and the Decepticons and by this time, my contacts have dried up and I'm blinking frantically away. I also blame fatigue, but I didn't fall asleep, but I was hoping the movie would go by faster. Still, I do wish there were more human-face-time as opposed to all the robot-action going on during the latter half of the film. I actually missed Sam's parents for a bit there.

Michael Philips of the Chicago Tribune said:
Fox's cleavage is the only camera object that catches Bay's attention for more than a millisecond.
And yes, Megan Fox is extra hot in this movie. I mean every frame she's in, they make sure to cram <s>just a little</s> a lot of cleavage and a lot of beauty shots. I'm not a big fan of hers, but she looked mighty mighty hot in this one. Mikaela Barnes is a very very good look for her and I was seriously considering batting for other team thanks to her very hot self.

... but as always the non-critic was pretty pleased

Too Much Sexy?

Photo courtesy of All Movie Photos

Sam Witwicky is still the most adorable dweeb ever. The Witwicky's in general are just awesome people. And Mrs. Witwicky high on weed and the dad being his hilarious self were great human touches in this very robotic movie. I feel bad for their house. It always keeps getting blown up.

Trying to add hotness to the movie was Isabel Lucas and though I find she didn't go half as hot as Megan in this one, she sure did give her best, complete with requisite ass cleavage shot (though a robotic tail was coming out of her very short dress). She had the funniest ways of transforming. Not pretty.

It would have been fun if they went on an entire treasure hunt all over the world, but it would have been waaaaay too much information in this already jampacked movie. The old robot they found at the Smithsonian was pretty kick ass. He was funny and just felt more human, which I missed. There was so much action, the robots didn't feel as human as they did in the first.

However, Bumblebee was still all kinds of amazing. Definitely my favorite robot, he was such a loyal friend to Sam and it was nice to see him again. I wish they had used him and his musicality more but alas, I feel we saw him more in Camarro form. I still love his interaction with Isabel Lucas's character though.

A great addition was the character of Leo and we see the return of John Turturro ( I love it! Two back to back films with him in it!). They definitely added a much-needed comic relief when Sam's mom wasn't in the picture high and all. Their dynamic with each other was pretty good too.

Though I never really cared for the soldiers, it was nice to see Josh Duhamel's prettiness. I feel for Tyrese though, as he got the bulk of the cheesy lines. Someone had to say them and well I guess he drew the short straw.

I wish there was more Sam/Mikaela cuteness, but we sure got a lot of the I-love-you-you-say-it-first bit and yet they somehow pull it off. Megan's extreme hotness makes up for Shia's sort of dweebiness and it just fits nice like that. Hey, I would totally make out with my boyfriend too if we were in Egypt.

RELATED: Not Quite the Disney Kid
100 Movies in 2009 [90/100]

As Easy as Nailing Jell-O to the Wall

Jell-O Winner!

[Eat Me Daily]

I haven't had some Jell-O in a long time, but after this, I think I'm gonna go make some, albeit not as creative as those made at the Jell-O Mold Competition that was held in Brooklyn.

I didn't even know there was a competition for this, but apparently, there is. It's crazy what kind of Jell-O molds the competition spawned. The winner made some Jell-O Cocktail Trumpery by Kandice Levero and Julia Greene.

The others were pretty amazing too! What really impressed me was the Jell-O as plastic wrap. Crazy, I tell you! I'm hungry now.

More from the Jell-O Mold Competition!

Clockwise from top left: Jell-O Cocktail Trumpery, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Jiggly Wrap and Jell-ROE

[Eat Me Daily]

Photos from the Jell-O Mold Competition [events, food art] [Eat Me Daily]

Not Quite The Disney Kid

In honor of NOT seeing Transformers 2 on opening day, I figured I'd do my part in spreading the Shia LaBeouf love instead. It's funny cause when I used to watch Even Stevens, I didn't think this guy would ever be attractive to me. He was the dweeby kid on that show. And yet look how far he's gone.

No, I won't say he's pretty, because pretty he isn't. But he's got this charm and this swagger about him that has me drawn to this sometimes cocky dude. Lately his movies have gotten me to the theaters right away and his interviews almost always leave me laughing. He's feels like the real boy next door -- minus the Abercrombie prettiness.

Sure, he's got his fare share of mistakes (drunk driving and misdemeanors) but somehow I'm not turned off by it at all. So more than his looks, he's got this appeal that I just can't figure out. And really who can say no to a guy who can make you laugh? I can't.

On not messing up
"You can't buy back your respect; you can't buy back your career. You only get one, so I don't want to mess that up."

On his peers
“I just wish the crowd I was associated with was more passionate about what they were doing and less consumed with the commerce of the art form.”

On why he didn't go to college
“I turned down a scholarship to Yale, ...
Taking of Pelham 123

Still Wanna Ride the Subway

[All Movie Photos]

Though I love me some romantic comedies, I can't resist these types of movies. My dad can count on me to watch one of these with him, though technically, he didn't watch this one with me -- he just paid for my ticket and watched Terminator instead. But that's not the point.

The point is, though I wouldn't pay to watch these kinds of movies, I enjoy watching them either on DVD or on a free movie ticket. And so the reason I ended up watching Taking of Pelham 123 alone last week.

Needless to say, I doubt a lot of folks actually watched this movie, but I have to admit I was pretty entertained by it (though this is speaking loosely as I'm entertained by almost anything). I didn't even know about the original version of this, but I sure as hell want to go look for it to see how the 2009 version fared -- apparently, it didn't quite match up.

And the critics said

This is NOT changing my mind about the subways at all

Photo courtesy of All Movie Photos

A.O. Scott of The New York Times:
Even at a distance from each other (Washington/Travolta), they conduct a tag-team master class in old-style movie star technique, barreling through every cliché and nugget of corn the script has to offer with verve and conviction. Even when you don't really believe them, they're always a lot of fun to watch.
For me, the film probably wouldn't have been as good if it weren't for Travolta and Washington. I've always thought of Travolta as a good guy but he freaked me out in this role. he was pretty damn efficient as the baddie. Meanwhile Washington was really good too as the trying-to-be-honest public servant -- complete with ill fitting shirt and paunch-ish belly. Love it.

Joe Morgenstern of the Wall Street Journal:
Yet most of the film's energy is generated by flamboyant cinematography and music-video cutting, and much of that energy is false.
I LOVED THE EDITING OF THIS MOVIE. It was definitely music-video-esque but the little pop-up writings were fun and though it may have masked the movies 'flaws,' I was constantly looking forward to the way it would be cut and put together. Plus starting with Jay-Z's 99 Problems will always be A+ in my book.

Nathan Rabin of The Onion:
Tony Scott’s bracingly awful remake/desecration of the classic ‘70s thriller.
I wouldn't call it bracingly awful though maybe it's because I didn't watch the original. But even if I had, it definitely had its high points: Tony Soprano as the mayor and just being set in New York makes me want to watch it already.

While my non-critical mind says

Hello Claustrophobia though

Photo courtesy of All Movie Photos

I LOVE NEW YORK CITY. Anything you shoot there, I'll most probably watch. Anything. And so this one felt great to me cause it really used the city as a character. From the subway trains to the underground to the roads on top and just the way they used New York. It felt so real.

It's updated-ness made it feel like the 2000s. It had the character who was video-conferencing with his girlfriend via laptop and the way John Travolta's character would check his stock while holding everyone hostage cause of the Wireless Internet (WHICH I CANNOT SEEM TO FIX!!! I HATE MY INTERNET NOW!!!). It felt very updated.

John Turturo was amazing. He played the hostage negotiator who wasn't so fab at negotiating but totally funny as a character. I'm not sure he meant to be funny but it was just nice to see him on screen again. I think I'm gonna watch Quiz Show again soon.

Also seeing Tony Soprano in a non-Mob role was quite refreshing. Though he wasn't as BIG a role as the two leads, he was definitely a fabulous supporting cast.

I wouldn't pay to watch it, but considering it was a free ticket, I am so not complaining about it. It definitely banked on Travolta/Washington's star power and it had a pretty good production value to back it up. Though I wouldn't go as far as saying it was one of my favorite movies, it's definitely a good one in its genre.

100 Movies in 2009 [76/100]

Off With Their Heads

No Need for make up?

[Just Jared]

The internet is screwing up and I could barely do anything online today so when I finally got to see these photos from the 2010 film Alice In Wonderland by Tim Burton, I got really excited.

I wasn't aware who the actor playing Alice was until I watched Defiance last weekend. Mia Wasikowska played Jamie Bell's forest wife in the film and she was one of those folks who looked pretty even when dirty.

I have high hopes for this film and I'm really excited to see how Tim Burton makes his magic with it. Of course, having Anne is an added bonus!

The Mad Hatter and the Red Queen

Johnny Depp will play the Mad Hatter, Matt Lucas, star of Little Britain, has recently been cast as both Tweedledum and Tweedledee, Helena Bonham Carter will be playing the Red Queen, Stephen Fry is to play The Cheshire Cat, Anne Hathaway has been cast as The White Queen, Alan Rickman as the Caterpillar, and Crispin Glover as the Knave of Hearts.
The very reliable Wikipedia lists those other actors in these corresponding roles. So Snape's in it too! This movie can only get better. I hope it comes out really well with all this effort. 2010 is so far away!

Anne Hathaway is The White Queen — FIRST PIC! [Just Jared]

So many places to see in Quezon City.

[-] I was apparently so exhausted when I got home I just fell asleep and was totally knocked out till dinner time. NO more field trips for me, I swear.

Tuesday
[+] Woke up extra early so I could bring Pietro to school for his first day. It was raining so hard and traffic was so bad I'm glad I just made it on time.

[-] Finally took the failable exam for my pseudo-job and it was one big mind game. I swear I pity the person who has to check that because it was kinda far out, I don't know if it was serious. I tried answering the best I could but it was just weird.

[+] Took PB and Pio to Trinoma so we coudl watch Drag Me To Hell which I'm surprised I survived. It was actually pretty good in a campy, shocking kind of way.

Wednesday
[-] Found out that my grandma's sister's husband (Uncle Oscar as we called him) finally passed on after a long struggle. I drove my mom and my grandma to the wake in the morning and he looked really peaceful. I never know how to act in a wake. I feel like I should be doing something.

[+] Had lunch with my grandma and her brother and my mom at Trinoma afterwards. I ended up returning to the wake in the evening because my siblings hadn't gone and it felt better that we were more. At least I didn't feel so silly alone.

Thursday
[+] Watched Dear Frankie while doing my 'work' and it was sooooo sad. I originally downloaded it for Gerard Butler but then eventually loved it for what it was. Emily Mortimer is so pretty!

[+] On dictums rec, I read A World Without Sound and I didn't know how I would like a deaf Edward but wow! It was really good and I loved the flashbacks it had. I am such an easy target for fic. I just get sucked in. So now I've read some Blindward and Deafward. I wonder what else fic can come up with.

Friday

Happy Birthday Lee!!!

[me]

[-] We're currently orphans as my parents left for Cebu and Pamy's in Bicol. Fun, right? Not quite. Pietro's also sick with fever and I'm the eldest in the house. Boo. I cannot be an adult just yet.

[+] I almost didn't go to Lee's birthday cause of my sick brother, but I ended up having dinner with my high school barkada and I had so much fun just hanging out in Lee's house. It's so good to just hang out with these girls. I had to deflect the many, 'what are you doing now' questions. Oh to have an answer to that.

[-] Pietro's fever was up and down and I'm so afraid it's something serious. I was scared it was A(H1N1) but thankfully it wasn't. My dad keeps reassuring me that he's fine and it's just fatigue, but I was worried cause they're not here and I was the one in charge of things.

Saturday
[-] Being awakened by my grandma's phone call at 5:30 asking about my brother is not a good way to start the day. Then the really really noisy marching band goes off at 6:30 and that doesn't help me fall back to sleep.

[+] Watched 3 movies back to back to back. I know I should be reading (a book) but instead I saw December Boys, Dedication and Defiance. (Yup, I download alphabetically). I should get back to reading something that isn't fic. Yeah right.

[+] Also based on Jenn's recs, I finished reading IED which was pretty freaking amazing. I love EPOV fic and the fact that Bella was so angry! Angry Bella is fun to read. She's got so much more fight in her!

Sunday
[+] Pietro finally got well when I left for my grandma's sister's husband's cremation/mass. It's been kinda stressful having a sick sibling and no parents or older sibling at home. I hope this never happens again.

[+] Uncle Oscar's cremation was sad. And I'm not even that close to him. I don't know how I'm going to handle death when it does happen to our family. I hope Auntie Cora (my grandma's sister) gets through this.

[-] Finally caught up with my movie quota for the week by watching Diminshed Capacity, Dirty Filthy Love and Donnie Darko. I should really get off my ass and exercise. explainingsound and petitebelette: I'm gonna try to be as persevering as you guys!

How Many Rubiks Cubes will make Abby Road?*

[Daily Motion]

I've finished a Rubiks Cube ONCE in my entire life and that was after being coached extensively by everyone. My mind cannot complete the thought process that goes into solving these things. However, this dude's brain? It can do that, and way MORE. Using Rubiks cubes, he made a time-lapse video featuring the album covers of The Beatles Abbey Road and The Clash's London Calling. Prepare to be amazed. [clusterflock]

<lj-embed id="156" />
* I'm not sure but it looks like a hella lot of rubiks cubes

Girl Crush: Kaya Scodelario

It's official. I think it should be mandatory to have some Brazilian blood in your offspring's veins. Because if Kaya is any indication of how pretty your kid will look with Brazilian blood thrown in, then it's off to search for a Brazilian sperm donor.

But really, when I first saw her in Series 1 of Skins, she got the drugged-out, bad girl look down pat. And though I love fresh, happy faces, there's something about a little bitchiness and attitude that goes a long way. I'm not saying that Kaya's a bitch at all, because looking at her outside Skins lets me beg otherwise.

In fact, she's so adorably cute in non-Effy mode that I'm excited to see her in other roles other than the often-misunderstood little sister of Tony. I've been crushing on her for quite some time, I think it's just about right that she finally got her own picspam.

1. She's how old again?
"Independence is crucial. I've lived on my own in a flat in north London for about nine months. Yes, I'm only 17 and it is harder than I thought, but I think women should be strong and independent. I'm proud of myself."

I sometimes forget this kid was born in 1992. Yup, I was already in grade 2 when she came into this world and yet she seems so much older -- in a good way. She's got her independence and she's got a strong attitude and I love about a girl who's still so young really. This makes me feel a) old but b) very immature.

2. She's got a great sense of style
Sure, she's not very original or groundbreaking in her outfits, but she's got this great vibe about her that makes any of the clothes she puts on look really good on her. She borderlines the biker chic, rock and roll girl and yet can also go feminine and sometimes flapper. Still no matter what she wears, she looks like she's having fun.

3. She's not afraid to like some Britney
I’m the biggest Britney fan and its really hard only picking one song but this reminds me of being in primary school walking around the playground with my friends singing this as loud as we could!

I was reading through her celebrity playlist and though she does like the 'cooler' bands out there, I loved how she admitted to liking some Britney. I'm a sucker for pop and the fact that she came out and said this is major props in my book. Come on, how can you not get swayed into liking a bit of pop right?

4. She worked her ass off to get some respect
The reason I got into acting is because i had a very difficult time at school. I was bullied a lot. this was my way out, basically - my way of getting respect. Guess what? it worked!

I can't imagine how she'd be bullied as a kid but the fact that it pushed her to do something for herself and make something of herself outside school really makes me look up to her. Skipping school isn't something I would ever think of doing just because I would be so afraid of what comes next and still she pursued what she wanted to do head on. That takes guts and I like it.

5. She's still (sort of) a normal kid
I'll walk around Hapmstead Heath or hang around with my friends.

Sure, she's on red carpets and looking great, on the front seat at Fashion Week, but when she's not working, she's still a normal kid (who just happens to be friends with Emma Watson). But I appreciate that she's still sticking to her roots and trying her best to just be as 'normal' as normal can get.

On the pressure of being the lead
There was a bit of the pressure but I knew it was my chance to achieve something and be proud of myself. I was really excited about it and I knew it would be an amazing opportunity. I only auditioned once at a small open audition two years ago so I never thought I’d be getting to do this – I’m very grateful for it.

On why she took the role
I’d never seen anything like it before – a teenage show, for teenagers, written by teenagers. It looked like so much fun. It’s incredible, it’s such an amazing opportunity.

On what she thinks of Effy
I think Effy will make it happy. I think Effy will make it fun. Hopefully she's gonna have loads of drama. I think she's a great character to work with. There's so much you can do with her. So, I can't wait to see what they come up with.

On dealing with change
I'm very excited to work with some new people and see how the show changes. But I think it's good to have a fresh start. Because people do move on, people do leave. So, it's great that they're doing it. It's different as well. It's very exciting

On her looking to the Theater
It's totally different. I haven't done it before and I think it would be a good way to push myself. All the people I know who have done theater have said it's the best thing they've done, because it helped them learn more about themselves

One day a Milk Toof knocked on my door & said hello

Ickle and Lardee

[My Milk Toof]

When I'm bored, I troll LJ and do totally unproductive things. Other people channel their boredom into more creative pursuits. This is what happens when someone's got way too much creativity and cuteness.

Say hello to Ickle and Lardee, the two characters in this really cute blog's take on the adventures of these two little milk teeth.

That's right. Milk Teeth. My Milk Toof puts these two totally adorable teeth into the cutest situations, like taking a bath and going on adventures and just being awesome.

I'm sure this endeavor takes up a lot of time and you can see it with the intricate details in the photos taken of the milk teeth on their capers. Check it out if you need some cuteness in you life. Toof Cleaning is one of my favorites!

MY MILK TOOF [Blogspot]

Even nice people can go to hell

[All Movie Photos]

I am a self-proclaimed wuss. I'm not a fan of horror flicks and I get freaked out really easily. But because _lexizzle's here and I just can't say no to my prodigal brother, I drove him and Pio to Trinoma yesterday to scare ourselves with the Sam Raimi directed Drag Me To Hell.

Other than the fact that I felt quasi-safe, seated in between my two very big younger brothers, I was actually kind of curious to see this movie as it got rated with the third highest rating for a movie this 2009 following Up which I have yet to watch and Star Trek.

And I don't think I've seen actress Alison Lohman since Matchstick Men which I loved so it's nice to see how she's sort of 'all-grown-up.' Then you add the ever adorable Justin Long in the mix and it's definitely a go. Plus when one of my favorite sites Vulture says it's pretty good, who am I to argue, right?

The Critics Say

Grandma Ganush's Hanky has more power than you

Photo courtesy of All Movie Photos

Dan Kois of the Washington Post said:
As in the best horror movies, Drag Me to Hell keeps the audience on the edge of hysteria throughout, so that every thump sets the heart racing and every joke earns a slightly out-of-control laugh.
The crowd at the movie was a really good crowd in that it was so participative. So that when things were funny (usually thanks to Justin long) the crowd would laugh really loud. And at the same time, when things went Boo! The crowd would really gasp and shriek and it felt so much more fun.

Rene Rodriguez of the Miami Herald said:
The movie is a goofy, ridiculous blast, and yet Raimi means business: Even the precociously cute kitty isn't safe in this one.
No one is apparently safe from projectile or harm in this movie. Though I'm not a fan of cats, I felt bad for the kitten in this movie. Thank goodness I didn't have to see it, but still, just the thought of it made me a little sick -- which means Sam Raimi's tricks are working.

James Berardinelli of the ReelViews said:
Although Drag Me to Hell mostly fails as horror, it achieves sporadic success as a comedy.
I agreed with my brothers when after the movie, we didn't think it was much of a horror but more of a shock-fest. It had a lot of WTF moments and a lot of LoL moments but none really that kept me awake at night scared shitless the way Shutter did.

The Non-Critic (Me) Says

Justin Long Can Make Anything Better

Photo courtesy of All Movie Photos

Alison Lohman does a pretty good 'good-girl' gone <s>bad</s> astray thanks to ambition. I know she's got more chops than this but seeing her go through mud and a scary grandma and sort of make it through alive is tough. So I give her props. It was such a physical role and I felt kinda bad for her, which probably means she was pretty effective.

Meanwhile Grandma Ganush, Lorna Raver is one scary grandmother. Seriously. I know it's a lot of make-up and prosthetics, but woman is fierce is totally terrifying. Especially when she suddenly appears in corners or behind drapes or in backseats, I swear her face freaks me out.

Justin Long has got to be my favorite part of this movie. I swear! Justin + the abundance of Mac products shown makes me laugh and seeing him with his stuck-up family or talking on the speakerphone while his girlfriend is outside his open door always puts a smile on my face. His comic timing was hilarious and he made me less scared when things weren't scary.

The beginning was kind of funny and the opening credits felt like "night of the living dead" or something like that, especially with the music. The vignette in the start was kind of hilarious, but the movie was a pretty good scream-fest.

The palm reader was hilarious. And the entire medium scene was just crazy. When the medium's sidekick gets possessed and starts dancing, I'm not sure whether I'm supposed to be freaked out because he looks hilarious. And talking Goats trump everything. That's CGI at its finest.

There is nothing subtle about this movie. It felt very campy and hilarious, but the good thing about it, is I don't think it really claimed to be one of those subtle "Sixth Sense" kind of scare fests. It was an in-your-face, phlegm/blood/stapler shooting kind of film and with that in mind, it totally worked.

RELATED: 100 Movies in 2009 [74/100]

Jen Needs To Start Choosing Better Titled Movies

[Just Jared]

I love it when people can make fun of themselves and not take things seriously. Everyone needs to lighten up.
"It started with, well, The Good Girl. Then that evolved into Rumor Has It, followed by Derailed, and then there was The Break-Up. And then on the lighter side was Friends with Money, which I felt was a bit on the nose. So if any of you have a project titled Everlasting Love with an Adult, Stable Male… that would be great! I’m at table six, and my agents are at table 12." -- Jennifer Aniston on how she needs movies with better titles at the Crystal and Lucy Awards [Just Jared]

How He Be Not That Into Her?

I just had to say how adorable Jennifer looked in this Prada gown which isn't black! Good for her. And though haters will hate, I'm glad she isn't taking things so seriously. I hope she finds whatever it is she's looking for.

How in the world did you think of Post-Its?

[Chunnel.TV]

And in yet another stop motion video to capture my heart, SCAD student Bang-yao Liu combines two of my favorite things: stop motion videos and procrastination. Except in his case, he totally makes the most out of his so-called laziness as his uber creative self utilizes Post-Its in a way that I'm sure neither Romy or Michelle would not have known when they invented it. On the other hand, I read fic while procrastinating.
You Got Inside My Head; I Tried My Best to be Guarded, I'm an Open Book Instead

I get so exhausted by it, that I forget what I want to say about my week to begin with. I was looking at the calendar and it occurred to me that half the year is almost over.

This sort of freaked me out. How could half the year be done and I'm still in a sort of limbo? Luckily, PB arrived this week and I can finally justify my vacationing mode. It's funny how now that he's here, I have ~work to do. Oh the irony of things. And because I'm always late to the bandwagon, go do that very old meme for me if you guys are bored. I know I am though I have a zillion things to do.

Monday
[+] Despite the fact that the car was coding today, I took it with me during the window it was allowed in the streets cause it was raining and I needed to go to ABS-CBN to fix some stuff for the writing I've been doing for Chalk. I've never been into the ELJ building and all I can say is WOW, you're so pretty! I've been to GMA's equivalent as that and ELJ > the GMA building.
[-] The rainy day didn't go away and so I stayed in bed most of it re-reading old fic because new updates are scarce right now. If only the muses inspired my favorite fic writers all the time. {My prayers were answered! Three updates in a row!}
[+] I read Confessions of a Nanny, Obsession is a Four Letter Word and Mr. Horrible! I love these updates so much! I get a high when I see mail from FF.net

Tuesday
[-] Woke up with my my thumb hurting like hell. I don't know what I did to it while I slept but it was quite swollen and it hurt to do ANYTHING with it. I swear, not only do I talk in my sleep, I gnash my teeth and now my thumb gets abused?! I should stop sleeping.
[+] Watched Choke and Conversations with other Women. Both were funny in their independent film sort of way. I now want to read Chuck Palahnuk's book that Choke was based on.
[+] I was checking my mail during the brief period of internet when I saw burnedforme had sent me a TIARA virtual gift!!! I was so shocked and happy and grateful and just elated!!!! Thank you so much dear! I'm so touched. This makes Patty feel very loved.

Wednesday
[+] Our beloved Internet went AWOL again and I called our provider and they promised somoene would come by and someone did! Finally! They changed our modem cause it's apparently ANCIENT and he connected to the internet but only on one computer
[-] Right when he left we tried setting up the WAN but then the scheduled power outtage happened and I ended up taking a midmorning nap and when lunch came around the power went back on but our internet refused to connect. Grrr.
[+] Thank god for basic computer skills, Pio and I somehow miraculously connected again and now our internet is a tad faster than before and I'm just happy. I Hope it doesn't keep disconnecting and shit. *my fingers are crossed*

Thursday
[+] Had my interview at ABS-CBN for that quasi-job and felt it went pretty good considering it was a formality. Wasn't so psyched about the fact that I had to get so many documents ready (from so many different government offices which means long lines) for it though.

[+] City Hall is my new favorite place as I was able to get or try to get three of said needed documents there. Perfect Fifths is the perfect time passer. The lines were not long with Marcus and Jessica in my hands. Also went to UP to get a copy of my grades. This job better be worth all this hassle.

[-] Daunted by the documents I still need to get for this especially since PB is arriving on Sunday and I do not want to waste my time doing crappy paperwork when I could spend it with PB watching tv or just hanging out. Boo real world.

Friday

Independence Day

[me]

[+] On my way to the clinic for my check-up, I see the Priest mobile in front of me at the mall. Meaning my priest crush is gonna be in the mall. I park near them and see one non-crush priest whom I'm chummy with and from the driver side, my cute priest crush! I chat up my priest friend and say hi to cute priest crush. I can't bring myself to say more to him but I learn he's leaving for Austria on Sunday. So sad. But at least he knows me now! and I know that he prefers Trinoma too! Watch me die (of sin and giddiness)

[-] Drove my parents to my grandma's house and it's weird driving for my dad cause he's been driving forever and isn't used to being driven for. So it's odd having him kind of nervous which makes me nervous in return.

[+] Had dinner out with the family. I tried to be good and only ordered salad and vegetables. I feel proud for not being tempted by the pork or chicken rice bowls or the tempura! I was salivating over my siblings orders.

Saturday
[+] Finished reading Perfect Fifths and I just can't get over how it's the last book ever in that series. I'll have to post another time about how much love this book is but that's for another time. I watched Children of Men and surprisingly loved it.

[+] Despite my aching feet, I accompanied my mom to the busiest mall ever, SM North to run some errands. I want to spend more time with the parents considering I'll be 'working' soon and I feel like I won't be able to just get up and go when I want to.

[+] Saw the trailer for Time Traveler's Wife and my heart stopped and I died. Literally. No my hair stood on end and I just started getting all choked up. Paola came into the room and asked if I was crying. And the sad part is, I haven't even read the book. Pamy's read this a gazillion years ago and now I have to.

Sunday

Looks Who's Back, Back Again

[+] My brother is FINALLY home! _lexizzle's arrival is justification for my non-working right now because I'm supposed to 'keep my brother company' which is just the front excuse for my real reason for non-working: laziness.

[+] Either way, I'm glad he's home cause it always feels like vacation when he's here. We already ended up eating a very late lunch out at Pancake House where it was weird seeing all my siblings and not have anyone missing.

[+] Thanks to searchtheskies, I finally read Hiding in Plain Sight and am obviously in love with it already. I love how Emmett has such a 'lead role' in this one. I'm a sucker for fic.

Pushing Daisies 02x13: Kerplunk

I hate you ABC

[Pushing Daisies TV]

Though I was this close to crying during the finale of Pushing Daisies, I somehow stopped the tears from flowing because a) my anger at ABC far outweighed how sad I felt at how this show was done; b) my head was still spinning from the amount of guest stars the finale had; b) my head cannot get over how this amazing show just aired its finale when I know there should be more.

So obviously, it still hasn't settled that this was the last I'd see of my beloved Pie Maker and his always so beautifully dressed Chuck; or of the always helpful Olive and the totally endearing Emerson and even the Darling Mermaid Sisters Lily and Vivian.

Obviously the show was too condensed and just plain shortened that I was barely breathing the entire time as I tried to absorb everything that was happening on top of the murder case and the fact that they had to tie everything up in under 41 minutes. Could ABC not have allowed them a double episode?! So mean.

The finale though jampacked had its share of the many many guest stars. I especially loved Wendie Malick (whom I still love from Just Shoot Me) as the rival of the Charles sisters. Then there's the dude from Mad TV who had such a bit part and Sid Tango (who really looks familiar) as well as Jimmy Neptune (who I swear I've seen elsewhere too!). Josh Hopkins was there too as this really stupid 'manager' but he's such a cutie.

So many guest stars, so little time. So very little time seems to be the theme of the last episode. Anyway, moving on, here are a few of the many things I will miss from this freaking fantastic show.

Aunt Lily And Aunt Vivian in the Water and out of it
Anything these two did or said or wore were always so full of color and life even when they were so devastatedly dead by the 'death' of Charlotte. The way it was revealed that Vivian knew about Lily's sleeping with her fiance and how Lily was trying to put Vivian's happiness before her own just broke my heart.

With how things ended, I wish we'd have seen how they'd reacted to the knowledge of Chuck's being 'alive' and how things would have gone if they did go on to Europe and how the Pie Maker would figure into all of this. But the look on their faces when Chuck showed up at their door? Heartbreaking. I wish I could have seen more.

The Fab 4 In Action
Even when they're not trying to solve a murder, these four just work so well together it's crazy how their chemistry is. I love them sitting in the booth and talking really fast that you have to watch it twice to absorb all of it. Them hiding from Lily and Vivian at Aquacade behind balloons was just plain adorable.

Then of course there's the last time Ned would ever 'touch' a dead person and it was just so funny how Chuck went all out with her tirade against Blanche. Though Olive never found out about Ned's special abilities, something tells me that if this went on for longer, I think they'd let her in on the secret eventually. That would have been fun to watch.

Olive and Emerson being adorably alone together
Though it's implied that Emerson finally meets Penny and Olive gets Randy Mann, you can still tell these two bond over their alone-ness in the world especially compared to the together-ness of Chuck and Ned. Emerson taking Olive under his wing and just guiding her and trying his best not to make her feel left out really touched me.

I wish we could have seen more of Randy and Olive's romance and of Emerson's reunion with Penny. I wish we could have seen Olive get into more cases and Emerson knit more scarves and gun holsters and just always supporting Olive when Chuck and Ned got too sweet for her liking.

The most intimate non-touching couple to ever exist
No touching has never been so sexy. I don't think I've ever been so turned on just by looking at this couple look at each other and want to hold each other. Though their relationship is different to say the least, Chuck and Ned make the most mundane things (like looking at each other) mean so much more.

I wish we could have seen how else these two would manage to make loopholes around their unconventional situation and how many more sweetly saccharine (it's that sweet) looks they give each other and how much of a good boyfriend Ned tries to be for Chuck. Ned, I say you've just been selfish enough. I wish we could have seen so much more.

The most endearingly awkward and charming Pie Maker
The cornerstone of this entire series, who knew a guy who could bring things back to life would be so adorably awkward and un-suave and just totally unconscious of how cute he is when he's in a suit rocking a neon green tie that only he could pull off.

Lee Pace has mastered the art of the puppy dog look because I capped so many more of his facial expressions and each of them more adorable than the next. And yet when in that suit and with the shades on, he still has that i'm-an-awkward-little-boy-with-abandonment-issues-please-love-me-look.

I wish we could have seen more of his brothers, more of his dad, more of him. More of Digby. More of the Pie Maker. More of his love for Chuck. More of him. More of his adventures with Emerson. More of him. More of his jealousy over Olive. More of him.

But no thanks to you, ABC, this is all we get. Twenty-two episodes too short of one of my favorite shows ever ever ever. I'm gonna miss Pushing Daisies so damn much, it's finally settling in that this is the last episode ever. I would say it was a good run, but it could have been better if there was more of it. Let me go cry now.

12 of 12: June 2009

Guidelines
[+] Take 12 photos on the 12th of each month
[+] Post the pictures chronological order
[+] Indicate the time, location, and a small comment
[+] Have fun camwhoring!
[+] Taken from Chad at 12 of 12

My Room

07:16 AM

Paola and I recently rearranged our bedroom by exchanging walls that our beds leaned on. I used to be along the windows and she had the mural wall. Now I have the wall behind me which means the fence and flowers are covered because my bed is high. My bed feels so much higher now though nothing has changed.

My Room

08:42 AM

I started reading Perfect Fifths and though I couldn't wait to finish it, I also didn't want to as it is the last book of the series. What did I learn from Jessica and Marcus's EPIC love story? I'm so not settling for anything less than that. I want my very own Marcus Flutie who will love Me. Yes. Me.

North Avenue

10:09 AM

June 12th marks my country's Independence day. The streets are lined with flags in every corner. I'm still very much dependent on others and not quite independent despite the occasion. I did go to do errands alone though. That's a step towards independence. Despite it being a tiny minuscule step.

Healthway Clinic, The Block

10:33 AM

And so I got to the clinic a few minutes after opening and there are already so many people! I was scared cause the number being serviced was 00 and I was 908! Apparently the nine is disregarded and I was just the 8th! Saved from waiting. Though I really didn't notice time fly as I had Marcus and Jessica with me.

Car Park, The Block

12:26 PM

In under 2 hours, I finished my check-up and ran errands for my mom already (though I apparently bought the wrong book). This carpark is so old school. I remember when I was a kid and my dad would be the one driving and I'd get so dizzy going up the spirals. Now I'm the one driving. It still feels very weird.

Dining Room

12:51 PM

First meal of the day. Ham for breakfast (now lunch) and sisig for real lunch. I could have eaten so much more but then I'll never be able to wear that bikini that I want to get but have no guts to wear. So I'm gonna try to rein in the eating. Try being the operative word. It would have been easier if fish was for lunch but no, it's sisig, which I love.

Dining Room

01:00 PM

Then mom brought out the chocolates jamypye bought from Singapore and though I've finished my share of it, my mom let me eat more than my share cause my siblings seem to have no cares for it. I shouldn't have eaten their share but the chocolates are pretty damn good and I'm a sucker for these kinds of things. I'm so weak. Goodbye bikini. I'm not a beach person anyway, right?

My Bedroom

01:30 PM

Already halfway through my High School Musical 3 calendar! I don't know what this picture has to do with June but it does lack some Zefron. This is remedied by the photo Zac (not pictured) has next to it and some Rob behind this. Remind me to move the calendar for a better view of Rob.

Mama Lily's House

04:24 PM

I drove my parents to my grandma's house cause she was complaining of a bad neck. This is the old school record player that Pio and I dug up and started using a few weeks back when we visited our grandma. It was dad's turn to play with it this time. I love old records! My grandma's got so many old records, it's crazy.

Red Kimono, Techno Hub

08:01 PM

We had Japanese for dinner cause I can't say no to Japanese. I forgot to take photos of the food and so this was all that was left of the rolls when I remembered to take them. So very yummy. I need to learn how to make these things or I will go broke when I'm all alone and have no parental subsidy one day.

Ministop, Techno Hub

08:48 PM

I know that convenience stores have more expensive rates than groceries but I love convenience stores, especially those of the 24-hour variety. Maybe it's the fact that Justin Timberlake shot "Like I Love You" outside a 7-Eleven. Either way, I love looking at all the things to drink in the freezer and all the things I haven't tried out.

My Bedroom

10:18 PM

And for the requisite (well sort of) photo of myself, here's one from a magazine that I sort of contribute to. Snaps for those who can spot me. After 9 contributions, I finally made it to the contributor's page. It's funny cause when they asked me to send my picture, I didn't quite know which one to send. And so I ended up sending that one taken by caen_le_comte. If there's ever a next time, I'm gonna have to wrack my brain for another decent photo of me. Yikes.

I'm Finding It Difficult to Write About Real Life of the Non-What-I-Did-Today-Variety

[Indexed]

ETA: I just realized after reading this entry again that I absolutely make no sense at all (yes "absolutely" and "at all" are both needed to reiterate how senseless this is) And I'm not even drunk. I am personally confused as to what I was trying to say and don't even remember why I wrote this to begin with. But upon further rumination, I realized this was all I was trying to say. Or so I think (after re-reading it on a full stomach):
[+] Patty is ecstatic/honored/grateful that she was offered sort of part-time job that requires her to blog (and get paid for it)!
[+] Patty was nervous for the unexpected interview of the said sort of part-time job and so ended up oversharing irrelevant information during interview
[+] Patty is too freaking lazy to do all necessary paper work before getting said job

I know I don't usually write about ~real life on a week day, but today is hard to ignore, especially now that I'm crashing from my iced cafe mocha high during the afternoon. // start real life rambling: As I've said before, I'm kind of confused/clueless as to what I want to do 'after college' and thus my extended self-imposed vacation (also because _lexizzle is coming home and I want to spend time with him).

So when a part-time job (which would only be for a month or so and I can do it from the house) was offered to me (by a friend whom I already took a part-time job from before), I was actually kind of excited to have some sort of source of income (plus the fact that the job entailed blogging) minus the 'realities' of real work (<s>9-5</s> 9-9+ work hours, long commutes to work etc)

BREAK: It's funny how now that I'm sort of taking on this blogging quasi-job, it took me forever to formulate the first two paragraphs! /END OF BREAK Anyway, the point of this entry is not to write about the difficulties of finding a job (that will come when I actually apply for a job), I just wanted to share how crazy my day had been.

Considering, I didn't think this job was a ~real job, I wasn't prepared for the phone call I got yesterday asking me to come in for an interview. I've never been interviewed in my life and I'm scared shitless of interviews. The only interview I went on (for org application), I was just crying like crazy. It's either I won't say anything or I'll say too much. True enough, at my interview this morning (which I thought I was gonna be late for), I was purposely reining myself in when talking about my 'blogging experience'

The very sweet interviewer said she's never heard someone talk so passionately about blogging. I take that passionate is a euphemism for CRAZY OBSESSIVE. I wanted to tell her, I'm already trying to keep my emotions at a minimum, ma'am. I hope I didn't scare her five minutes into the interview.

So the interview didn't go so bad and I feel like I overshared my life with this poor woman who probably didn't need to know that I spend my entire day on the laptop and was trying so hard to figure out what my other interests were other than the Internet (my life is sad) or that I love to read fanfiction or any other crazy detail I happened to blurt out which was so irrelevant to the job but I said anyway.

But then after the interview, some other guy who works for HR briefs me in another room of ALL THE CRAZY PAPERWORK I have to do and the tests I have to take. WAIT HOLD UP! I thought this was a ~non-job job. Why do I need to do all these things?!?!

On the long list of things I have to accomplish are: a test I have to take on Tuesday which will last for god knows how many hours and which the HR guy so nicely put it, is FAILABLE. People have failed this test. I also have to get a medical check-up complete with stool and urine samples and female doctors examining my ENTIRE BODY (I will need to shit and pee on command and strip in front of a stranger! Hello a-whole-nother entry).

I also need to get an NBI Clearance which I tried to get after hours in line but apparently, I can't pick up till the 23rd, cause my name is a HIT! What is a HIT?! It means someone has the SAME NAME (YEP, all three long-ass names with the same weird initial AND not so common last name) as me and they need to make sure that I don't share a name/am a psycho.

Let's not forget my SSS number, a TIN number, a Police Clearance, a cedula, my transcript of records, lots of ID pictures, and I'm sure some other things I forgot to list but will have to accomplish.

On one hand, doing this now for my non-real job is actually fine as I'll need all this too for my real-job one day soon but the fact is I know this isn't exactly THE job yet. It's A job till THE job comes along. So knowing all that and having to do all these, makes it much more of a hassle for the very very lazy me. And the fact that it's a holiday tomorrow and PB arrives Sunday does not help the let's-go-do-it-Patty attitude.

No, I'm not complaining. I'm thankful for this job. Especially since I realized I have no money and things I want in the mall (like pretty -- and expensive -- shades and gorgeous -- and expensive -- dresses) can't be taken from the store without going through that register thing at the counter. Money that I can only get from entering the real world.

I'm just hoping the real world can stay away for a while till I grow up. But wait, I must be grown up. I dressed up in non-sneakers and a ratty t-shirt for the interview. I was shaking hands with HR officers this morning. I was filling out forms with TIN numbers in City Hall this afternoon. Damn. Why do I still feel like such a child then?!

Okay. I've written way too much about this and upon reread, it doesn't make <s>much</s> any sense. So for anyone who's managed to get this far and actually read this entire senseless ramble, thanks and I'm sorry. Really. Here's a *cookie* from me to you. Now I hope I write more coherently when I actually have to do this job.

THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A FUNNY ENTRY OF MY CRAZY DAY. WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!?! MUST GET BACK TO NORMAL SOON!!!

It Belongs to All Food Groups Too!

My kind of cupcake

[Cupcake Project]

Though I could not bake to save my life, I sure can eat and cupcakes go up pretty high on the list of things I love to consume. And so how awesome can the Honey Baked Ham Cupcakes be? Especially when it brings two of my favorite things together: Ham and Cupcakes!

The baker came about this wonderful creation thanks to the 'everything tastes better with bacon' thing going around and thought maybe another pork part could be used to make something as great as cupcakes even more wonderful! And though I know I will fail at making this, something tells me my little sister Paola will be up to the challenge.

Honey Baked Ham Cupcakes [Cupcake Project]
RELATED: What's Better than an iPhone?
