Archie vs. Cookie

I'm fully satisfied with this year's top 2. I like both David's and though I feel like Archie would benefit more from the Idol title, I don't mind if Cookie won either. Unlike last year, I don't hate either contestant the way I loathed Jordin.

So really, the finale is just going to be something exciting that I can't wait to see. I don't know how the coronation song will go, but I hope their encore and their new song will be fabulous. What do you want them to sing?

Apparently, the CW could fold up by next summer. What then will happen to my Gossip Girl?!? I don't know how the network is going to pump it's ratings. Could next season's 90210 Spin-off boost their ratings?

The network has lost about 28% of its target audience of 18 to 34 year olds so far this season. Its ratings during this month's "sweeps" period -- the all-important measure upon which future advertising rates are set -- are down about 22%.

People in the industry are asking whether this coming season is the CW's last chance. One person close to the situation confirms that without significant progress in the next year, at least one of the network's owners is likely to abandon the venture. [Wall Street Journal]

In the event that the CW does die, will any network take Gossip Girl in?!? You know you love them!!! Fox? NBC? ABC? CBS? Anyone?!!? Please!!!

American Idol 7: Top 3 Elimination

This is it. Next week today, we will have a new American Idol (for the seventh time). And I can't believe how far along this show has gone. A lot of people say it's jumped the shark and TPTB are getting sloppy with the way they show their bias. In the end, it's still a TV show and I'm still getting entertained (somewhat), so I guess it's doing my job. Maybe though, they can be more honest about the voting process, because something tells me that they don't actually listen to the votes. Maybe it's just me.

And this was the eventual week that no one would get anything right. I feel bad for my dad in a way because he was really sticking by his guns with his bold Syesha prediction, but hey, who knew she'd even make it this far right?

Though Sleazak won't say that Syesha truly deserved to be in the top 2, he will say that she deserved a fair fight -- something Sleazak thinks Syesha did NOT get with the way the producers and judges treated her last night.

In a season where my very favorite TV show has repeatedly undermined its own credibility — judging some contestants before they've actually performed, praising others even when they noticeably botch kind-of-important details like, oh, their lyrics — it would've been nice if the Mistress of the Bottom Two had been allowed to compete on a musically level playing field with the dueling Davids. Yes Syesha's got talent. There's no doubt about it. I guess what's lacking with her is just that star quality. She's the unfortunate victim of the Idol conspiracy because the producers have been rooting for a David-David finale since the beginning. Because if you were to ask me if Syesha deserves to be in the finale, then she surely does. I guess the support of the Fanesha 300 just wasn't enough. Still, I will always remember her stellar performances of "If I Were Your Woman," "One Rock and Roll Too Many," and even "I Will Always Love You." She is this year's Melinda Doolittle in a sense that she consistently performed but just wasn't the favored one. I'm sure she'll do good with whatever she decides to come out with. Bye Bye Syesha.

American Idol 7: Top 3 (3 Song Choice)

And then there were three. In fairness, it's been three seasons straight where my favorites have made it to the top. That must mean I have pretty good judgment of who TPTB like.

Tonight, we get three songs each. I'm hoping for all killer and no filler because at this point, with one week left, there ought to be something to make me drop dead with amazement.

ROUND ONE: Judge's Choice

David Archuleta - "And So It Goes" (Billy Joel) - chosen by Paula 2
Wow David's mayor has a fabulous mustache. How about those pimp lights! It looks like he's glowing from the heavens!!! Technically, I'm sure this is a very difficult song, and David A did sing it really well. I could feel his emotion, but I guess it wasn't the most moving thing ever.

Randy said that he's in it to win it, baby!!! Paula said that it was a pure and stunning performance and felt that he was a storyteller. Simon said it was very good -- no surprises -- a bit predictable. Good. Good.
Syesha Mercado - "If I Ain't Got You" (Alicia Keys) - chosen by Randy 1
Does Syesha's city have no mayor?!?! Why didn't her mayor read it for her!!! But really, Syesha looked incredibly gorgeous tonight. Her dress was just blingabling all the way and I was sort of blinded by it. She of course, sang the song perfectly and was really fighting her way to the finale. Pamy, I'm sure is shitting in her pants, all nervous for her David. But I say fear not.

Randy could see her heart beaming and smiling. And he said that she's standing there at NUMBER 3?!?! As in third lang. Paula said she looks absolutely stunning and a bunch of praises. Simon thought she sang it very well, but wishes Randy picked something else that would allow her to make it her own. He thought she looked gorgeous.
David Cook - "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face" (Roberta Flack) - chosen by Simon 3
David has no mayor but is on TV!! And he's shocked to see that he's singing Roberta Flack. Simon says it's one of the greatest songs of all time. I had never heard the original so I'm not sure if he changed it up at all, but one thing's for sure. David looks mighty sexy doing it.

Randy says he could sing the phonebook. Randy wishes Simon would have chosen another song where David could rock. Paula says it's about David. She now considers him her second favorite singer. Simon says it's his best performance. Original. Simon says that round 1 goes to Cook and Cowell.

ROUND TWO: Personal Choice

David Archuleta - "With You" (Chris Brown) 1
I love his song choice. It's contemporary and pop-py and current. Did David just say BOO?!?! Ack. So cute. It was a little awkward watching him at first, but his cutie puppy dog looks endeared himself to me. This guy can't really move (the bobbing from side to side is funny) but he can sing. I actually did enjoy it.

Randy applauded the fact that he tried something new and young, but he couldn't believe David singing "my boo." Paula thought it was perfect for the tone of his voice. And thought it was perfect for him. Simon applauded that he didn't do a treacly ballad, but he thought it was a Chihuahua trying to be a tiger -- it wasn't really him -- with the awkward dancing.
Syesha Mercado - "Fever" (Peggy Lee) 3
Yes talk about performance. Syesha's really trying to win this thing. Could my dad be right with his crazy ass bet? Syesha is freaking sexy though!!! That little silver dress is so fab on her. If this girl gets the boot, I'll feel bad but won't really care. If she stays, I'll be so sad, because I want a boys finale, but she does deserve it. Wow, she's working it.

Randy said it was a great performance. Paula said she looked lovely. And was surprised at her song choice cause she thought it didn't show who Syesha was as an artist. Simon said that she will probably regret her choice tomorrow. Simon thought it was a lame cabaret performance. Do you notice how Ryan didn't deflect Simon's bad comment?!
David Cook - "Dare You To Move" (Switchfoot) 2
David Cook is again looking freaking hot. David thought that the song wrapped up his experience -- from being a bartender to this and thought it was the appropriate song for the appropriate moment. I'm loving how he's got his guitar back!!! It's like an extension of his arm and fits just naturally with him. That was a kick ass performance. Love this song.

Randy namedrops a bit and thinks it was a little pitchy. Paula said she knows it was challenging, and was wanting more from him. Simon thought it was predictable and wasn't impressed much.

ROUND THREE: Producer's Choice

David Archuleta - "Longer" (Dan Fogelberg) 3
What the hell, Nigel?!? This song is older than David and me combined (or so I think!) I have to give it to Archie for giving it his all though. It's just really not a song for trying to keep yourself in the game. If this ain't revenge from Nigel for what Paparchuleta did last week, then I don't know what is.

Randy said another interesting song choice but thought it was another hot one for him. Paula thinks it was a lovely performance and expected nothing more. Simon thought he sang the song very well, however he thought the song and lyrics were horrible cause it was so gooey. Blame Nigel!!! Something for a 90 year old. Still he thinks he's done enough to get into the finals next week.
Syesha Mercado - "Hit Me Up" (Gia Farrel) 2
WOW Syesha can dance. I love this song. It was played on the pilot of Gossip Girl!!! This shows that Syesha can do contemporary too. And she looked really good. I hope she danced more. But hey this is a singing competition after all. I want her to record this song for her studio version!!! It's so club-ready!!!

Randy said he could see her doing the song but was just okay for him. Paula thought she did the song very well. She still doesn't think it's what Syesha is as an artist and doesn't think it's enough to get her into the finale. Simon thought last week's songs were better but was forgettable and non-defining. Again, blame Nigel!!!
David Cook - "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" (Aerosmith) 1
PIMP SPOT MUCH!!! The lighting, the coat, the violins! The sexiness!!! Breathe Patty. Breathe. I felt like Bruce Willis was going to die all over again. This is just making me cry!!! Whoa lighting!!! Whoa guitars. This is just going all out crazy. Is this the dress rehearsal for the finale *hopes* All that was missing was confetti, baby!

Randy loved the song but the performance was predictable and just okay. Paula gave him a standing ovation. Paula told him that she'll see him at the finals. Simon thought it was one of the greatest songs of all time and thought that David Cook wins the night. Really? Well let's see what the voters have to say.

Obviously, I'm rooting for an all-David finale. But with conspiracy theories like, anyone Paula recommends a song to gets the boot: Archie. Then there's the first performer in the Top 3 gets the boot: Still Archie. This makes Pamy very very scared. But really, I highly doubt it's Archie's time to go. Still, I wouldn't bet my life on it.

They all averaged the same. I really don't know anymore.

Gossip Girl 01x17: Woman on the Verge

So I wasn't quite sure why this episode was named this way, but I guess there were a lot of women in this episode on the verge of something new. Lily and her wedding. Serena and her "murder" case. Georgina and her coming out to Dan (or not) and Rufus and his reunion concert. Okay, so Rufus isn't a woman. But there'll surely be a lot of screaming girls at that concert.
Why am I totally loving Nate and Vanessa? Nate is like Nate 2.0 when he's around her. He's confident and smooth and just freaking charming!!! I swear his lines with her are killer. I want an actual date!!! I want a real Nate-Vanessa storyline!!!

I love this shot of the boys!!! The Chuck-Nate Bromance should be brought back!!! There's so much love between them that it's hard to resist them. Come on! Give each other a hug!!! You know you want to, boys!

Someone's way wasted. I don't know how Blair got her into the elevator to begin with. Serena looks way wasted. This girl didn't just drink. Or at least she doesn't look like all she did was drink. It's hot the way Nate and Chuck just pick her up effortlessly!!!

Why is Lily being interviewed about Rufus so near her wedding? Though I don't understand the reason behind it, it's a nice way of inserting the fact that she's obviously not over him. Rufus hair is so wild though! Looks like Lincoln Hawk was pretty huge in the 90s.

Who does Dan think he is?! Get off your high horse boy!!! Then again, Serena isn't doing much to remedy the situation either. It's funny though how Blair-Chuck-Nate are blocking Dan's way. He's never going to get past those three.

Dorota for the win! She's the funniest character ever. And it's not even her accent. For me, she could totally be Gossip Girl!!! She's always there when things go down!!! Conspiracy theory!!! Dorota is Gossip Girl! Not.

The non-judgmental Breakfast Club! I slept with him in the back of a limo -- several times/ I slept with you when I was her date/ I'm Chuck Bass!!! Yes!!! This scene is made of all sorts of win. Chuck forever.

I Love the pain in Lily's face when she sees what a ho her daughter is. Seriously. I can't believe she only found out now though. And in hindsight, that's a really big ass flash drive!!! The resolution of the video is amazing and it's long enough to fast forward really quickly. Seriously. Where do you get one of those?

Ooooh. Lily puts her foot down. At her own rehearsal dinner at that. Show the bitch who's boss woman!!! I want to see how Serena's dad looks because Lily is HOT from all angles but Serena is only pretty at certain times. Who's the bastard that tainted the precious Rhodes DNA.

Nate and Vanessa forever!!! Nate is willing to take the subway to Queens for her!!! Get married please!!!! Steal the wedding from Bart and Lily and just get together! I've never seen Vanessa smile this much and so genuinely in one episode.

And you're marrying him? I can smell divorce already and the wedding isn't even on yet!!! Seriously, this is doomed.

"Let's go get the bitch" Seriously, I've never heard anything more sexy come out of Chuck's mouth. Chuck and Blair are so meant to be! This scene just says it all. They'll be the King and Queen of Mean and together they will rule the UES. Why aren't the writers listening to me on this one?!?

I always heard about it but never saw real freaking proof to verify this oh so gorgeous union. But apparently, it's fo real!!! This only made my day more. Because I just finished watching GG 01x17 last night and though I'm too tired to make a recap right now, I'll settle for some real life love!!!

This is like Summer-Seth all over again. Except I hope this time, it's for real. I doubt it, but hey a girl can dream right?

Looks like life is imitating art! Gossip Girl costars Blake Lively and Penn Badgley – who have coyly sidestepped relationship rumors – enjoy a steamy kiss in the pool during a romantic getaway last weekend to Paraiso de la Bonita, a luxury resort in Mexico's Mayan Riviera.

Now who am to complain about this at all. Looks like we know how these two are going to be spending their time after the season finale next week. More beach frolicking shots!!!

I don't mind if this is publicity that they're trying to drum up for Gossip Girl especially with the hiatus coming up, but I'm just hoping it's a legit relationship.

And just when all that sunbathing gets too exhausting, Lively and Badgley curl up for some R&R.

How exactly do you sleep this comfortably when it looks sort of sweltering? Oh to be young and in love. These two are just tooo adorable.

"I think she's incredible," Badgley earlier told PEOPLE of his costar. "She's an amazing person and she's beautiful – so there's not a lot to dislike."

Ahem... we should have called it back then, but the pictures were a little long to come by. Thank goodness that their official outing is a love-fest at the beach. The Costume Institute Gala was a nice foreshadowing but this just seals the deal.

SNACK TIME
They may be sharing chips now, but back in January Lively called talk of a romance "silly." She told PEOPLE: "Everybody always tries to dig into your personal life or create things that aren't there."

Either way, this is a nice way to wrap up the season long speculation about the veracity of their relationship. Way to be outted, e? Looks like they're trying to rival that Jennifer Aniston-John Mayer lovefest in Miami. Yummy indeed.

The Never Ending Field Trip

I usually don't want field trips to end. When I was in high school, I was just always raring to get on the road no matter how crummy the places were. The further from school the better. The longer we stayed, the happier I was.

Last week, I had an overdose of field trips. PI 100 had a two day back-to-back field trip. Friday was set for a ferry ride of Pasig River (yes that one). We weren't even required to attend this field trip but because I'm in dire need of bonus points, I decided to go ahead and go with the flow (of the river).

Getting there wasn't supposed to be hard. The jeepney ride was uneventful! But the MRT ride was crazy. On my way out, my card got stuck in the turnstile! I had to wait for a supervisor to open it up to let me out. It was embarrassing because my professor already left me, Anna and Simon at the station! Finally after getting out of the station, I led them down the wrong stairs and we ended up walking further!!!

The ferry ride was cool though. Despite the fact that the Pasig River really reeks, it was a really comfortable ride. I didn't even know there were so many stops along the way. Though it was a long trip, it was enjoyable because it wasn't like I was hurrying to go anywhere. Sure I had orals on Monday and I had a field trip the next day wherein I hadn't done my part of our group's reviewer, so that scared me a bit. But other than that, I really had fun.
While Saturday was from 7 in the morning till 9 in the evening, as we flitted from place to place -- that had something to do with Rizal. I usually spend Saturday mornings at home asleep, so this was going to be difficult. Still, I was early enough to get a pretty good seat even if Mr. Sexy Back wasn't in our bus. I wasn't going to complain because all I wanted was a seat that wasn't in the aisle.

Our first stop was Rizal's childhood house. Anna, being the game subject of my crummy camera non-skillz, was ready for her close up. I liked the white-ness of the wall compared to Anna's grey and pink. Whatevs. I just wanted to take her picture.

The sun was so hot and this was one of the rare times wherein Anna and I didn't look harassed, tired, and in my case, raped. Seriously. The sun was sweltering and I was just sweating buckets. No wonder Mr. Sexy Back was giving me weird stares when he'd catch me looking. I looked like shit. Thank goodness for this picture.

I love reflection pictures. This one is a bit blurry but it includes the entire frame. Rizal's house was pretty uneventful and so was Marcella Agoncillo's house and Leon Apacible's house.

But hey, who am I to complain. We were listening to MaxFM (when we could) and I was ogling at the quick-to-be-conceited Mr. Sexy Back. It's funny because it wasn't like I was staring at him the ENTIRE time. In fact, I made a conscious effort NOT to look at him. But when I would, he would so catch me!!! I'm terrible at this! I guess I should stick to stalking people online. It's much safer for me.

The walks were long and the sun was hot. My feet were tired and I just wanted to go home. We weren't even halfway done.

Lunch at Mabini's mausoleum was fun because we got to just hang out on the grass. Jervi and Meg displayed their luksong baka skills while I amazed at how nice their splits were. I don't have enough lower or upper body strength (whichever it is) to make me jump over a high wall (being Simon). We were easily the noisiest bunch of people at the park and it was no wonder Sir kept eyeing us. Hey, we were having fun!

But Jervi and Anna's camwhoring were the best. Using Anna's sarong, they tried coming up with the most number of ways to wear the sarong. Of course, nothing beats Jervira Reyki (Jervi's African Beauty pageant name). These two were meant to ham it up for the camera.

While walking to the Caysasay Church and Sta. Lucia Ruins we saw a basketball court. But what was special about it was that it was named after my friend, Marian!!! This only made me want to go home more. It was already 4pm and we were nowhere near done. Mr. Sexy Back was still being his smug, cute self and I was still looking like shit.

Finally at around 7pm, it was time to go home. We switched buses (to Mr. Sexy Back's bus) because it would be passing C5 instead of the traffic ridden EDSA. Lucky for me, I was seated across MSB, a row behind him.

But the real sight of the bus was the Twilight Zone meets Studio 54 lighting of the bus. Anna looked fabulous under the green lighting though. I looked like an alien. I slept most of the way back, due to sheer exhaustion and because I was too lazy to keep staring at his sexy back.

It was raining all the way home and I was too lazy to review (who even said I would be able to review for my orals) so it was the best part of the field trip. Sleeping. It was a good thing Mr. Sexy Back (also known as my cutest PI 100 classmate) was there. Sure, he probably thought I was checking him out (which I was), but hey it's not like I ever have to see him again.

Thank goodness this field trip wasn't even overnight. I couldn't bare to stay away from home any longer. This was a long and tiring day but thanks to friends and crushes it made things worthwhile. Oh and finally, PI 100 is over.

Apparently, all you need to get a clothing line these days is a little bit of buzz and absolutely no experience in the fashion industry and you're set to get your own line.

Take for example, Heidi Montag who just couldn't let Lauren one up her. Calling her line Heidiwood, it didn't exactly get the most stellar of reviews. But somehow, I forgave her. Or rather I just didn't care.

But Perez?! This I really just don't understand. Believe me, I'd love to eat my words when he releases a to die for collection, but somehow, I'm doubting that. Who's next? The Girls Next Door?

American Idol 7: Top 4 Elimination

Despite how dismal some performances were last night, I still wasn't solid on who I thought would actually get the boot. Idol is known for shocker eliminations so no one is really ever safe. Still, some deserved to go more than others and yet somehow I'm still holding out for an all boy top 3.

Pamy gets her third correct answer this season and believe me, I'm jealous. If only Jason stayed one more week, I would have gotten it. But so is the life. I can't believe it but my dad still has a chance of winning this if Syesha actually makes it past next week. You just never know.

I really like Jason Castro. In fact, despite his performance last night, I still secretly wished that Syesha would get the boot just so he could make it to the top 3. Alas, I guess the VFTW peeps don't have as much clout anymore. I will forever enjoy his rendition of "I Just Want To Be Your Everything," "Hallelujah" and "Day Dream." And that was only his top 24. His top 12 had really great performances too with "Fragile," "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," and "I Don't Wanna Cry." Though the past few weeks he hasn't been on his best, I guess I'll remember him for the good times. So long Jason.

Gossip Girl 01x16: All About My Brother

For an episode entitled, "All About My Brother," the brothers in this episode actually took a backseat to the Jenny-Rufus, Jenny-Asher, Jenny-Blair storyline. In fact, it should have been named "All About Jenny!" Still, there was something else in this episode other than Jenny. And those little extras made me love love love this episode. In fact, it ranks up there as one of my favorites. Not like I don't love all 16 (so far!)

I love the open hostility between these two. In a way, I'm glad Jenny's asserting herself, but I'm obviously on Team Blair on this one, so I'm glad she's got some allies on her side, especially since Serena is so MIA. My favorite is "invitations are non-transferable!" Wow. She's really gone bonkers!!! And go Rufus for figuring out how a computer works! Time to hack into her Facebook!!!

Ewwww... How dare Jenny do this to Eric?! Chuckles already left him all alone, now he has to go through this shit with Jenny! He's just trying to be nice to her. Eric is the most mature person in this entire show!!! I know I hated him in the beginning, but he's totally grown on me! Jenny: Oh my god, wait. You have a crush on me or something? Don't be embarrassed?! That's so cute! As if, Little J.

So Asher is gay and is using Jenny is a front! But would he really be making out in the middle of the street?! I don't think so. And Dan just happens to be there to see him making out with a non-girl?! And why did CW not show the kiss?! I doubt it was X-rated or anything. WE all know it's Eric who's gay anyway!!!

And finally!!! SOME RUFUS-LILY LOVE!!! This is the only thing keeping me happy especially since there is absolutely not Chuck in this episode. I love how Rufus goes to Lily for parenting advice and then ends up tagging along to her wedding chores!!! Talk about ouchies!!! I can feel him dying inside!!! He loves you Lily!!!

And the way he looks at her when he's wearing that dress. He's probably thinking I could be the groom!!! And yet he can't even bring himself to say anything. As much as I like Dan-Serena, I love Rufus-Lily more. Their love has been a long time coming!!!

HARSH ASHER!!! But way to bring Little J a few notches down!!! I'm not used to seeing Jenny making out (wow I sound like Rufus), but I guess she is growing up. Dan has nothing to fear. Looks like Asher isn't popping anyone's cherry right now. How desperate of Jenny though to not care that she's only being used. Oh the problems.

You notice how there is absolutely no Georgina pictures despite her prominent role in this episode? That's because I absolutely hate her, but love her. Hate how she's keeping Dan-Serena apart, but love her for staining Serena's super perfect life. I feel terrible for Eric though! Way to be outed! Although I didn't see this coming (if not for spoilers), I would have kicked Georgina out of the table if I were Lily.

Rufus: You've already lost my trust. Do you really want to lose my respect to? Cry. Rufus was so sad and desperate in his plea to make Jenny stay that it broke my heart!!! I would kill Jenny if she were my daughter and yet Rufus is just there trying to keep her safe. Just lock her up! OR tie her to the kitchen sink!!! I mean Jenny suggested it, Rufus!!!

I LOVE Blair's dress!!! It's divine and she of course had to look her best for the dastardly deed she was about to do. I'm glad she didn't out Eric though. The old Blair would have, but there really is some goodness in this woman. Compared to Jenny's one track mind, Blair's obviously the more human one. Asher: Get that faggot out! KILL THE BITCH -- and I mean Asher! How dare he do this to Eric!!!

And this time, Lily returns the favor by calling up her old flame for some parental advise again!!! Seriously, these two should just get it on!!! No wedding (NOT -- I wanna see people in gowns). But really these two are killing me. There's so much sexual tension here, they could turn Eric straight again. Favorite couple ever.

Eric once again proves just how old he is. He's more mature than the entire cast put together. They should totally develop this plot because suddenly Eric is so much more interesting. Screw suicide, let's all be gay!!! Lily: I'm scared... I'm worried for your safety and your happiness. Give me a hug Lily!!! -- you are the best mom on this show!!!

Blair: You put on a good fight... for a freshman. Hope you didn't expect a hug Right on, bitch!!! If only this season were longer, I'm sure they could have dragged this power struggle on for more episodes. So I'm sort of glad that this season's shorter. I wonder what Jenny will do now that she's no longer vying to be Queen B. I like Jenny's jacket, by the way.

SERENA!!! Wake up and tell your boyfriend what the hell your problem is!!! Seriously!!! Dan is going to resort to his own means if you don't tell him what's up!!! I mean seriously!!! This is only going to lead to more problems. This couple has a lot of issues to flesh out. Neither of them trust each other and with good reason. They need to grow up first. Therefore, break up first and let Lily and Rufus come together!!!

Oh and I hate Georgina. I really felt sorry for Serena here.

The parent-child scenes are my favorite parts of this episode. I love how Jenny just crumbles and crawls back to her dad. Don't expect to get out of the house 'til you're 25 though. I really hope she isn't going to give Rufus any more problems, he's got enough love drama as it is.

I TOTALLY CALLED IT Last week, I was thinking aloud that what could be so bad she couldn't tell anyone and I said she'd kill someone and she did!!! Yay!!! We've got a teenage murderer on the show. Things were never this exciting in Newport. Oh wait! Ryan almost killed his brother, right?

But really, I doubt Serena REALLY killed whoever on purpose. I have a feeling it was in self-defense or something to get her out of this problem because we can't spend season 2 with Serena in jail! Unless... it's Prison Break meets Gossip Girl where older brother Chuck tattoos himself with the map of the jail to get Serena out!!!

In all seriousness, I found Blair to be so loving. After Serena totally abandoned her this entire episode, she's still there for her sister in the end. Oh the complicated lives theses people live.

Thank god for wonderfully unrealistic episodes like this. It makes life so much more fun. And that leaves us with two episodes left. Seriously. What CW is doing is cruel to us. They give and then take it away. Cruel cruel people. I guess this will test our EQ -- that's it, I know I fail. GIve me more Gossip Girl!!!

American Idol 7: Top 4 (Rock & Roll)

Pamy and I checked out the list last week and due to the sheer amount, I hope the contestants don't go the usual route. After all, there are 500 plus songs to choose from. And Rock and Roll is a pretty wide genre so thsi should be an interesting night.

ROUND ONE

David Cook - "Hungry Like the Wolf" (Duran Duran) 3
I'm not so sold on his first performance, but I have to admit I was taken aback by how hot he was in that first shot. His close up is just crazy. This is a performance that needs to be watched because his sexiness totally carries this entire thing. I love you Cookie, but this isn't going to be on repeat.

Randy thought it was an okay choice and an okay performance. Paula was left with a big appetite and was happy to see David grow and flourish. Simon thought it was a little bit "copy cat," but thought it was enough to get through to the next round.
Syesha Mercado - "Proud Mary" (Tina Turner) 1
Good luck to her. It's been done 100 times. But wait! Those opening steps! And wow, I'm actually watching Syesha and NOT just listening to her. For the first time, I'm going to say she performed the hell out of the song instead of just singing it really well. Super fab!

Randy said Syesha was in the zone. Paula said she looks like a star. She's now a beautiful woman with magnetic presence. Simon thought it was a bad shriek-y version -- a bad impersonation of Tina Turner and that he didn't have fun. I sort of feel bad for Syesha after that.
Jason Castro - "I Shot the Sheriff" (Bob Marley and the Wailers) 4
For the first time, I thought Jason looked like he was actually enjoying the song he was performing. Maybe because he finally gets to sing some Marley! I can't say it's his best vocals but he definitely looked like he was finally feeling the song.

Randy thought it was a "really" karaoke bomb. He feels like there wasn't anything special about it. Paula thought he performed his best, though she wasn't crazy about the performance or the song. Simon thought it was utterly atrocious -- this felt like a first round audition massacre. Simon didn't know what he was thinking. Jason said he was thinking, "Bob Marley!"

Thank you Paula for asking the men to drop it though!!! And for keeping him up. Oh Castronauts!!! You guys gotta keep it together!!!
David Archuleta - "Stand By Me" (Ben E. King) 2
David sings to himself! And to his dog!!! Wow, that gets the schizos and dog lovers to vote for him too!!! But wait, this song was made for David. It's inspirational and friend loving. And he's "contemporary" After all, he included a line from "Beautiful Girls" by Sean Kingston. He should have sung more of it though.

But seriously, I actually really liked it. I don't usually gush about Little David but this was a really good, upbeat, updated version! With this song alone, he just sealed his position in the Final 2. Even if Pamy refuses to believe this for fear of jinxing him. Fear NOT!!!

After ten hours of cheering, Randy says he's happy that there's one guy who's trying to win the whole thing (he brought the hot man vocals!). Paula said people forget that he's way beyond his years. And drops the 17 year old card after weeks of not using it. Paula thinks he's delivering it and seasoned! Now I'm hungry. Simon said that he could have whistled this song and it would still be better than Jasons (OUCH!!!) Simon can say he struggled but its too late he took it back by calling it the best performance so far.

ROUND TWO

David Cook - "Baba O'Reily" (The Who) 2
CSI NY!!!! But wait!!! WHATTA PROFILE!!!! Seriously!!! Whattanoutfit!!! He's so freaking hot!!! Nice camera movement. CU of David's Profile then SUPERIMPOSE to MS of David favor left. They really give this guy the camera love!!!! He's looking so amazingly hot. And his vocals are sooooo much better than the first one!!! I wish he would have gone into a more upbeat part of the song, but hey, I'll take the camera love ♥

Randy thought there was something different with him tonight. Paula wants more. Dear, you're not alone. We all want more Cookie!!! Simon welcomes back David Cook. Ayi. So underpimped.

And as Cookie stood there next to Ryan, he was actually prettier than Seacrest. That's just NOT possible! but yes, it was.
Syesha Mercado - "Change is Gonna Come" (Sam Cooke) 3
Wait, that first note was so long I was able to go take a bath, get a pedicure and my hair cut, conditioned and colored. And wait! She's wearing her McPhee Yellow gown. This is back to Syesha's very stellar vocals, and yes I felt her emotion, but I wasn't feeling the song. And during that last note, I was able to climb Mt. Everest twice! Wow, that was long. Still, it was a good performance from her.

Randy thought the first song was loveable but this one wasn't. He didn't like the arrangement of the music OR vocals, because Sam Cooke is the best singer ever in life!!! It fell flat for hi. Paula just stands up and claps. She wants to hug Syesha. Paula said though, "THIS IS IT FOR YOU!" Hala!!!! Again, Paula is a clairvoyant remember?!?! So this could be the "shocker." Simon agreed with Paula. Wait which part? The this is it for you part? Or the hug part? Or the good part? Hmmm... But wait, Simon totally defends Syesha by telling the audience that Randy was wrong.

Dear, you can cry. But you don't have to defend your song choice. Seriously. It felt like she was running against Hilary and Obama. Oh no. Stop the reverse pimping. You're still pimping her by not pimping her. I'm not making sense, I know.
Jason Castro - "Mr Tambourine Man" (Bob Dylan) 4
I feel bad for him. I feel like his nerves got the best of him!!! That was such an obvious lack of lines. But alas, I doubt this is enough to save him. But I'm begging Castronauts unite!!! Save Jason!!! I want to hear the studio version of this though. I hope he records this one instead of the other song.

Randy said that Jason isn't in the zone. Paula said the Jason has won her over anyway and Simon advises him to pack his bags. I'm really hoping the fans power vote!!!
David Archuleta - "Love Me Tender" (Elvis Presley) 1
From the moment those spotlights shone on him, I could see the confetti falling on him at the finale. In fairness, his vocals were pretty damn fantastic on this one. I could see Pamy all giddy with excitement although she was trying her best to contain herself. Fear not, sister. See you at the finale.

Randy said the hot vocals were his as he caressed every note. Ew. Paula said that she could feel David's heart. Simon said he crushed the competition tonight as David tried his best to keep his humble face on.

I'm a self-confessed chick flick addict. Today, I scored free tickets to the premiere of "What Happens in Vegas" and I don't regret dragging my tired ass to Robinson's Galleria (so highschool!) to watch the well-balanced romantic-comedy.

Lately, romantic comedies are either too romantic cheesy with little humor or laugh out loud movies with little chemistry. "Vegas" proves you can do a little bit of both genres and do both well. I'm not Cameron Diaz or Ashton Kutcher's number one fan, but after the movie, I'm starting to rethink my induction into their fan clubs.

The plot is a nice deviation from the usual boy-hates-girl-hates-boy plot because this time there's an incentive to keeping them together. They both want/need the now conjugal $3 million. And this movie shows how a ~~bit~~ of money can keep to people who hate each other together -- for better or worse.

What I like about the movie is the many different ways they show just how desperate they are to win the money. The scenarios they get themselves into (including marriage counseling with Queen Latifah) are hilarious. I especially love the montage wherein Jack (Ashton) tries to race Joy (Cameron) to the counseling in hopes that one of them misses the scheduled meeting.

I have to give props to the hilarious supporting cast of Hater (Rob Corddry -- the hilarious news correspondent from the Daily Show with Jon Stewart) and Tipper (Lake Bell). Because they make sure that every moment is hilarious and fun even when bordering on cheesey-romantic. The small parts aren't small either. Like crummy ex-boyfriend Mason (played by the awesome Jason Sudeikis from SNL) and Jack's hard-ass dad, Jack Sr. (played by Treat Williams from Everwood!!!) They just keep the moving tight.

Still, the leads of the movie really are Cameron and Ashton -- as printed on the poster sans their last names (because really, who doesn't know them by first name?). Their comedic timing is impeccable and they don't skip a beat. They're just constantly feeding of each other's funny-ness. And of course they've got chemistry. Their scenes together felt like fireworks were constantly exploding cause they really do fit together.

When they were at each others throats, I felt like I wanted to kick some balls too and yell "YOU KNOW WHY!!!" But when they were all lovey-dovey, I couldn't help but wish I had my boyfriend with me too (a la Tam and Anna next to me). Yes I was melting inside when some lines were being thrown out, but hey, that's why it's a romantic comedy right? Let me get kilig.

And did I mention how pretty these two are to look at?!?! They're sooooooo pretty!!!! (I'm officially jealous of Demi Moore and how stupid of Justin Timberlake to break things off)

Definitely a fabulous and funny watch (with your girlfriends or your boyfriend), "What Happens in Vegas" doesn't necessarily have to stay in Vegas.

I'm not a big fan of poetry. I appreciate it, but I don't go around reading it. Added to that, I can barely string words together that make sense, mean something and have the right measure. Still, that doesn't mean I don't look up to people who can write poetry. In fact, I'm so in awe with poets. While in my MP 115 class, I felt so inspired by my professor to make poetry, but alas, i'm just not cut out for it. Enter Austin Kleon. This guy, makes poetry out of newspaper clippings. He calls it Newspaper Blackout. He uses a Sharpie to black out parts of The New York Times and voila! He's got poems.

He takes a page from an existing book or newspaper article and blacks out words until he finds a new and hidden meaning in the text, using the block of text as a visual and poetic element, on a par with the actual words. Some of the results are hilarioius, some are profound and even unsettling, but they are never bland or boring. [The Ephemerist]

How's that for creative. I have to admit, though this is a restricting format (seeing as the words are already there), I think it might actually work for me. This way, I don't have to really think of the words, I have to put them together though. Not that that's any easier. But hey, at least I've got a guide of sorts. This could be a nice jumping off point for making poetry. I think I might really try this out.

Last night was not my favorite theme ever. It would have been if they all followed our predictions for them, but alas that just wasn't the case. I feel like there were so many other better songs from the Neil Diamond catalog that were left unused. Oh well, we'll just have to face the consequences of these actions.

Oh Brookie. In the beginning, I loved you. I really did. Save for your repeating songs from the start, you weren't half bad. You made it to the top 5 after all!!! I will always enjoy your Top 24 performances of "You're So Vain" and "Love is a Battlefield." When you hit the top 12, there were some snags, but I really like listening to your studio recordings of "You've Got a Friend" and "Every Breath You Take" (where you don't repeat the start). I can imagine your album will be full of folksy tunes that you play on the piano or guitar and I might even get a copy. You had a sort of good run. So congratulations for making it this far. So I got very few correct predicitons this week which only goes to show that the Idols are really going for songs with absolutely no recall (at least not with me). I only know two of the songs sung tonight and well I don't know if that's a good thing or not. I thought my choices were good so I hope tonight's performances are better than expected.

So he forgot the lyrics while with Neil Diamond, thank goodness the guy isn't a diva and didn't blow up. I hope Jason doesn't forget his lyrics onstage. This was a surprisingly good song for him. I thought he did it justice. He was really comfortable with the song and well, he was wearing blue jeans. The song really fit him and I'm glad he pulled it off.
David Cook - "I'm Alive" 1
I liked Cookie's performance. His vocals were alive and he performed well. And onstage he was just on fire. He was really feeling the song. He was wearing a lot of his brother's initials too. It was on his guitar, on his jacket. But really when I was watching him, it felt really natural for him to be there onstage. It was really fabulous.
Brooke White - "I'm A Believer" 5
My goodness. That was just bad. Terrible. It lacked character, her vocals were blah and I was just not getting it at all. Contrary to the first two performances, this was uncomfortable and was just not good. I wish she would have chosen, "Will You still love me tomorrow" because even if that's in her comfort zone, at least she would perform well.
David Archuleta - "Sweet Caroline" 3
I guess he needed a happy, upbeat song and he got it. I thought his vocals were alright. Onstage, he looked like he was trying his best to have fun. I like his get up though. It's one of the most youthful things he's worn (not that i'm expecting him to come out in diapers). That was a good performance for David.
Syesha Mercado - "Hello Again" 2
Syesha's vocals were of course good. This woman is really fighting hard to stay in the competition and it shows. She looked really focused on delivering a great performance and that's what she did. Though it doesn't make me want to root for her, I have to admit it was pretty solid. I don't know who her fans are, but they seem to be keeping her in.

PAULAGATE!!! Seriously, this just proves that the show is really rigged. I mean they can give any excuse they want (She's giving her notes on the rehearsals, blah blah) but the crowd has spoken. Sure they're doing damage control already, but they shouldn't be too worried. It wasn't like we didn't already know this show was rigged. Now, it's just confirmed.

ROUND TWO

Jason Castro - "September Morn" 4
I guess he was really feeling the song because you could hear it in his voice. I thought he was pretty good. I prefer his first song to this one though. But really I couldn't really concentrate after what Paula did before the second round. It was like she totally preempted what Jason was going to do. I feel terrible for him. I wish he'd strangle Paula with his dreads.
David Cook - "All I Really Need Is You" 1
It's a good call to sing a fast and a slow song. Valerie said that the second performer in the Top 5 gets the boot, I hope that's not true because he got even better with his second performance. I felt the lyrics and his vocals were fabulous. He felt like a real singer already and not just someone vying to win the top spot. I hope this seals the deal for him to the next round because I'd hate for the curse to be real with this one.
Brooke White - "I Am... I Said" 3
A better song choice and she sort of redeemed herself for her "I'm a Believer" fiasco. At least she didn't ask for a repeat of the song or didn't cry midway so it was a pretty good performance for Brooke. Thing is, I wasn't blown away and at this point in the competition, you've got to be freaking fabulous and that wasn't freaking fabulous, it was just fab.
David Archuleta - "America" 5
Not my favorite song (no I'm not anti-America), but I felt like this was going to KLC route. Still, it was far from anything KLC would do anyway. I was just disappointed with his song choice. I wish he would have picked a slower song since "Sweet Caroline" was upbeat enough already. Still, I'm sure the ArchAngels were satisfied with him tonight thus assuring him a spot next week.
Syesha Mercado - "Thank the Lord for the Night Time" 2
I don't know if the pimp spot can save her, but I guess TPTB are doing all they can to save her. Complete with back up singers and all. I think Syesha put one hell of a performance. I have to admit I wasn't watching it fully s I was computing their scores (Yes there's a math behind this). This just proves that no matter how fabulous Syesha is, I'm just not drawn to watching her.

My dream top 3 (The three boys). And yes, I may have put Jason and David A in the bottom 3, but they all averaged a 4. Believe me. I wouldn't even put them there if I were totally biased.

Gossip Girl 01x15: Desperately Seeking Serena

This week, we finally welcome bad girl from Serena's past, Georgina Sparks (Michelle Tratchenberg). The Upper East Side kids are busy preparing for the SATs but it looks like Serena's going to have an extra hard time concentrating now that her old bestie is back in town. Will Serena be lured back to the ~~good~~ 'ol days of sex, drugs and rock and roll?

It's official, Dorota is B's real best friend. How sweet of her to review vocabulary flash cards with her dear Ms. Blair. Of course, it's not like she has much of a choice and I didn't know her English was good enough to be quizzing Blair on it, but hey, being there is what counts, right?

Serena + Chuck = Best Brother and Sister ever!!! I'm loving them more than Jenny + Dan. Seriously!!! And the orange trench Chuck is wearing matches Serena's orange fingerless gloves. They're already dressing alike! I like to see them interact without bickering! See! You guys can get along if Serena isn't such a bitch about it.

OMG!!! G is back!!! And she's like the Brunette version of Serena. Seriously. Their hair is the same. They have the same clothes. They talk alike, except Georgina is much cooler than wimpy Serena. And of course, because Serena is the weaker half, she has to give in to Georgina's advances.

Dog walker has some potential! Except for some reason I think his face is a little wide. Or maybe because I'm so used to Nate's chiseled jaws that a little weight looks odd on anyone on the show. Wow though, Jenny's getting really materialistic! She's looking for a hot, rich guy and she's not hiding it either. I hope he breaks her heart. Or not. He seems nice.

And yet another new couple alert!!! Nate + Vanessa?!? This could be potentially hot. Nate for some reason, has so much character now!!! He's like Nate 2.0 and lucky Vanessa gets to sample the fine new specimen. Bickering already, this is going to be a feisty relationship!!!! And wait, she's tutoring Dan?! Isn't Dan the smart one? Oh wait, he's a choker (how convenient). And Nate is DONE with the SATs?!? When did he suddenly get so responsible and non-mopey? Did I miss an episode?

Nelly Yuki! I love her name!!! She's like Kati 2.0 (minus the confusing heritage). And she's smarter and more "well-rounded" than Blair -- if it were possible. I think this girl has hottie written all over her if she wasn't wearing those glasses. I guess they had to give her some kind of flaw.

Chuck to the rescue AGAIN!? Seriously, this guy is waaaay too nice to Serena. If I were him, I would totally leave her hanging!!! She kicked you out of your own house, remember??? Nevertheless Chuck is the sweetest step brother anyway -- covering up for her to Dan and looking mighty fine at it in his green sweater. Chuck is such a nice guy.

This is the most awesome non-sexual threesome ever!!! I find it interesting that Serena tells Chuck about Georgina and can't tell Dan. I wonder what kind of sordid secret Georgina has on Serena that she can't tell anyone and HAS TO go to Chuck for help. I loved this shot, because it looked like Chuck was really in between them.

Date already? Vanessa's moving pretty fast. And why not! Nate's single and so is she. Let's take advantage. I love how they have to give Nate some sob story about his dad being in rehab in Brooklyn (how convenient that Vanessa is always in Brooklyn). But really, I'm all for this pairing. I believe that everyone on the show MUST hook up with each other before this season ends.

Rufus is waaaaay too nice to Jenny. If this is his idea of grounding Jenny, then ground me now! How lovely of him to give her a sewing machine (like that's going to keep her in the house!). Jenny is so rude though, storming off just because she wasn't allowed out. I mean come on, let's feign a little gratitude here, dear.

FIRST DATE HOOK UP!!! Well well well, looks like V and N are hot for each other. I found it so hot how flirty and forward Nate was being. I guess I was so used to him being all stoned around Blair with absolutely no effort and now with Vanessa he's just so into it. Now that's hot.

What kind of friend slips a drug into her friend's drink? I know Georgina's weird, but what was she planning with this? She obviously does not want Serena to take the SATs. I feel bad for Serena momentarily but then realize she's been such a stickshit to everyone else, so go ahead and fail a bit. There's still another SAT test date, I'm sure.

Rufus is my favorite dad ever. I love how he's really trying to assert himself to Jenny. Jenny should act at least repentant. She doesn't even sound remorseful. I'm sure her dad will come around if she acted a little bit more sorry. Oh and Rufus is looking mighty fine even without Lily by his side.

Queen B is evil!!! I feel bad for Nelly Yuki!!! Blair should be plotting vengeance against Little J, NOT this Asian girl!! Just when I thought things were getting better for minorities on this show. NOT. Blair looks really business like too. I thought this was the SATs -- it looked more like a business interview. I think I wore jeans and a tshirt to my SATs. Oh the UES kids and their clothes.

Can anyone spell J-E-A-L-O-U-S?! I find it adorable how Blair and Dan are both looking over at Nate and Vanessa and both seem jealous -- or the least bit confused? But really, as much as I love Nate and Blair together, I prefer Chuck and Blair. Also, since I refuse to see Dan with Vanessa, Vanessa and Nate must belong together. This is the start of great things.

Now I'm really curious as to what Georgina has on Serena. She can't even tell Chuck!!! I'm thinking murder here. Or like they got so high on drugs they pushed someone out the window? I mean it's got to be murder, otherwise she wouldn't be this afraid to tell people, right?

Asher is looking mighty gay here. Or maybe it's the massive amount of hotdogs he's carrying. I love how Rufus doesn't back down either. Asher is super diplomatic though and such a suck-up. Good boy alert!!! He may be just the thing Jenny needs to tame her. I have a feeling though that even he can't handle Jenny's ambitions of Queen Bee-ship. Oh noes.

Georgie, the bitch and Sarah the owner? Sounds about right. Looks like Georgina is going to go all out with the revenge here. I wonder what the hell she's going to do with Dan, but those looks she's throwing his way don't look very innocent to me. I can't wait for Serena's world to be rocked.

Obviously Georgina's warpath has only begun. I can't wait till next week's episode because things are only going to get better. I want more Lily in the show! Less annoying Jenny and more likeable bubbly Jenny. And of course, ChuckBlair!!! You know you can't wait till next week. I know I can't.

How can I NOT implode and explode at the same time?!? Within the span of a few weeks, two of my favorite TV shows graced the covers of leading magazines in a similar all white underwear theme. Can someone page Calvin Klein please? I smell an underwear campaign right here.

A week ago, New York Magazine declared Gossip Girl as Best. Show. Ever. while this week, Rolling Stone Magazine has the Hills on the cover asking, Are they for real?

Someone bring me to a magazine store stat because I need to get my hands on these. And while I'm at it, why not pick up a Vanity Fair. After all, Miley's controversial shots are in store too.

There's just something about David Cook's performance during Mariah Carey week that got me all hot and bothered. Thing is, this song was in tough competition with "Here You Come Again" by Carly Smithson and "It's Al Wrong, But It's Alright" by Michael Johns. But because I loved listening to David live, watching him live and his studio version of this song, this trumps the others.

I was reading my usual round of gossip a few days back when I came across the article about Miley Cyrus's revealing photo. Now I thought they were referring to these bra-baring ones, when in fact they were referring to the Annie Liebovitz for Vanity Fair photos.

Now I saw the photos and the only thing scandalous to me is the fact that her hair and make up make her look like an extra on "Night of the Living Dead." I so understand why Momager Tish didn't care about the fact that her daughter was wearing a blanket (and pants), she was probably too horrified to speak up due to her daughter's appearance -- above the neck, that is.

I know the haters will feast on this one, but I don't understand why she needed to apologize in the first place. It wasn't like she was posing nude deer in the headlights style a la Baby V. I don't think there was a need to apologize just because some parents were outraged over FALSE news anyway delivered by Entertainment Tonight

Some parents reacted with outrage over the weekend when the television program “Entertainment Tonight” began showing commercials promoting a scoop: Ms. Cyrus, the star of the wholesome Disney Channel blockbuster “Hannah Montana,” had posed topless, albeit with her chest covered. [NY Times]

They didn't even show the entire photo. They chopped it off so it would look like she was topless. So really, I guess this is just another publicity stunt in the entire grand scheme of things. 'Till then, I shall return to reruns of Hannah Montana unaffected by yet another scandal in this girl's life.

I don't usually post about serious things here but recently I was watching CNN and I saw a news bit on this Austrian man and how he kept his daughter underground and had 7 kids with her over 20 years. I know, it's a little bit too much to process, but really it's as sick as it sounds.

A 73-year-old Austrian man, Josef Fritzl, from the town of Amstetten, has confessed to imprisoning his daughter in a cellar for 24 years and fathering her seven children, police have said.
His daughter, Elisabeth, had not been seen since August 1984, when she was 18. According to her testimony, Mr Fritzl lured her into the cellar, and drugged and handcuffed her before locking her up. [BBC News]

I mean seriously. This guy is obviously deranged to even think of doing this. I don't know what kind of psychiatry his kid needs to get through this, but it's going to take a very long time to heal. The sickest part is, some of her kids with him are living above the cellar with her real mom. I'm just so disgusted.
