So what did I do last weekend? Let's just say, I spent the entire Sunday in bed, with my little sister, glued to my iPad. This was a marathon to beat all marathons.
We've come a long way from Parent Trap, when they'd have to shoot Lindsay Lohan with a body double. This show focuses on Sarah Manning and her discovery of her clones and it blows my mind how AMAZING and well shot this thing is. BBC America wins at bringing to life the classiest and most pretty looking series ever and this is no exception. The sets are always so vibrant and crisp and I'm lost in the scenes.
But really, let's give it to Tatiana who plays so many characters, some of which are playing each other, it's amazing how she's given each of them a distinct feel and accent. Sure, the costumes and hair all contribute to it, but you can tell she's a totally different character and persona.
Sarah is so desperate to protect her daughter, she'll do anything. I wish I'd gotten to know Beth better, because she was pretty much the catalyst of all this. Then there's Alison who's just the most adorable thing ever. I feel bad for her with the finale reveal of her mentor and I hope now that she's turned herself in, they won't harm her, but I doubt it. Then there's lezbehonest, Cosima, who is literally a genius and so charming and fun to watch on a webcam.
Then there's Helena who was just another level of crazy and just really over the top awesome. She was annoying and scary but it was amazing to watch her. The German didn't get much screen time, but her few seconds of screen time were intense. Finally, we meet Rachel Duncan who is just a force to contend with. I can't wait to see how it all turns out in season 2.
ignore the song and the cheesy fonts and go to 2:30
I know I'm not supposed to be totally in love with Paul, but I am. Screw all the negative things about him, because when he comes onscreen with Sarah, I die. Every little scrap of attention he gives Sarah is a bone for me. When they're finally at their good place and they lean in to each other? I die. I know during the start they were just using each other (quite literally on the kitchen counter), but I'd take it. They have such great chemistry.
And though in hindsight (after watching the video above), they did actually have quite a bit of sexy times, I was wanting more. Now that I think back, my favorite scenes between them weren't when they were tearing each other clothes off, but when they showed they cared for each other. When Paul would reach out for her hand after everything was out in the open? I died.
Then we have Felix, whom I adore and love and just want to adopt or hijack to be my best friend. He's so fiercely loyal and there were times I was afraid they'd out him as Sarah's monitor (I know, she's not in the system), but I was still freaked out. You could never tell.
Heck, I was even interested in Art and Mrs. S. (it's Vera Bates!!!) and all the folks at Beth's office and all of Alison's neighbors and even Cosima's science storyline. Which is rare for me. I never care about any other storyline except for the one I'm rooting for so it's a feat that Orphan Black has made me care this much!!!
So yes, I'm obviously obsessed and can't wait for season 2. I'm so glad I got caught up in this and have all the time to do rewatches and marathons and obsess with everyone else. Who else is watching?! Am I the only one dying now? What tumblr accounts have the best graphics?! Who writes the best Paul/Sarah fanfic?! AND WHERE THE HELL CAN I FIND PRETTY ICONS?!?
