Awards Show Fever: Downton Abbey Wins on a Weekend (What is that?!)

Carson, bring the champagne[Zimbio]
Wait, what? I'm alive. Yes, I am. I just happened to unearth myself from the mountain of work and real life responsibilities to actually revive this thing. I know the Emmy's happened so long ago but forgive me as I try to catch up on all the fangirling I missed. Cause really, I may be busy in real life, but we all know this life is far more interesting. Watch me spam your flists for a bit.

And so the 63rd Emmy Awards. That happened and a bunch of my favorite shows won! Mad Men and Downton Abbey brought home major honors and some of my favorite people too. Best part? Lots of pretty people, of course.

Raise your hand if this show has taken over your life? Yup, I've got all extremities raised if my body didn't hurt too much from all the physical exertion I've been doing. And though the entire cast didn't come by the Emmy's, I'm glad the girls came by to celebrate their win! Best new show for me and I'm glad I joined the bandwagon because this series wins at life. Congratulations to Dame Maggie Smith too for winning for her acting. Here's to more Emmy wins for the show.

Four wins, four seasons. So well deserved. I'm missing this show so much so just seeing the cast come out and winning for the fourth time fills me with so much joy. Too bad we didn't see January but I guess staying home with the baby is pretty important too. Here';s to seeing the cast next year in all their glory and perhaps a fifth Emmy win? Let's keep our fingers crossed for that one.

It would have been amazing if Maggie Smith were present but Peter Dinklage winning was pretty much the best part of the night. I'm so glad he won for Tyrion. Tryion on the TV show is one of my favorite characters and i'm so glad he got a nod. And though I don't watch Modern Family on a regular basis, Claire and Phil remind me of my parents (in a good way) so seeing them both win is awesome. And of course Kate Winslet deserves each and every honor. She';s perfect, yes?

And let's get onto the fashion, just because everyone was so pretty. Yes, I'm easy to please too. We all knew that, right?

I'm a little in love with Nina Dobrev and her gorgeous Donna Karan gown. Though a lot of the girls had a similar cut with the serpentine bottom and the corset top, but Nina worked hers and looked most fierce. I loved Kate Winslet's Elie Saab and Lea Michele's Marchesa too. Fashion Critic has more on the ladies in red. I loved how fiery and vibrant they all looked on the red carpet.

The other staple color of course, is basic black but none of these ladies looked plain at all. I'm never too sure about midriff baring but if anyone can pull it off, it's got to be Gwyneth Paltrow in her Emilio Pucci dress. You know she's working it. i also loved Naya Rivera's Lloyd Klein gown. It's really simple but her body wears it so well. Let's not forget Evan Rachel Wood's Elie Saab too. I think she and Mildred Pierce co-star Kate coordinated, yes?

What are the Emmy's if not to sparkle in? Christina Hendricks showed off what she's got so well in her Johanna Johnson gown. Girl just lights up from within. I love everything about it. Mad Men co-star Elisabeth Moss looked wonderful too in her Marchesa gown. I wonder how January would have dressed if she were here. And though I haven't checked out the newest Charlie's Angels, Rachel Taylor does look fantastic in her Giorgio Armani gown. I might just check it out now.

There were a lot of blues too and none of them looked sad at all. I especially loved Emily Blunt's Elie Saab Couture. So I guess we know which designer I'm loving right now. She looked divine, like she always does. Special mentions to Clare Danes in Oscar Dela Renta. She's just glowing. And another Charlie's Angels star Minka Kelly looks fantastic in her Christian Dior dress. I swear she still reminds me of Leighton.

Lots of girls went pink too -- either blush pink or a more garrish shade of pink and they all looked great. I loved Jayma Mays's Zuhair Murad gown. I know I could never pull it off (it's so damn sweet) but she looked stunning. Zooey was looking lovely in her Monique Lhullier creation (complete with beehive) and though Rashida Jones's gown was simple, it was a beautiful Alberta Ferreti. Pretty all around!

It's so nice to see funny women get all glammed up and after watching Bridesmaids, my girl crush on Kristen Wiig is growing. She looked amazing in her Zac Posen gown. I'm just blown away. And Aubrey Plaza (From Parks and Rec -- which I should probably be watching) looks really elegant in her Juan Carlos Obando dress. I love the white on her. And though we don't get a proper look at the dress, I still love Drew Barrymore in her Givenchy dress which not many could pull off. Work it, Drew.

Sometimes, your best accessory could be your date and these lovely couples proved that. Funny-couple Will Arnett and Amy Poehler always look so cute together and it's always nice to see Coco out on the red carpet. But really you know I'm just happy Ian and Nina came out together, right? Yes kids, we know you're dating.

And yes, there were men on the red carpet too. Props to Joel McHale for going all out with the white tux. Always so pretty to look at. The men of Glee came out too and I just want to see Harry Shum Jr. bust a move. Sorry Changster, now get moving.

Supposedly Rob was also at an Emmy after party (Jimmy Fallon says so) but I'm lazy to look for photos so instead, let's just drool at Ian and Nina being sweet. And the photo of Juliana Marguilles makes me want to watch The Good Wife already. If only there were enough hours in a day. Until the next Emmy's!
